So your husband is afraid of Democrats?  Btw, there are plenty of blue states where the cost of living is extremely high, but political views are similar as long as you don't stray from the narrative.

I live in a purple state but in a Red area and my wife thought the same way about this place before we moved. But people complement her all the time on her English and how clear it is. The only time we have had people give us weird looks was when we went to the Spanish market to get some meat, and obviously wondering why my wife can't speak Spanish even though she looks it. 

 

I agree we need to fix the problems in this country and immigration/asylum is a key problem that needs fixing right now. But no one wants to do anything effectively besides being open borders
