It depends. An acquaintance of mine could bring a K1 fiance from Ukraine being on SSI and Program 8 (apartment). Back in 2008. His co-sponsor was his son.

That was 11 years ago.  They are enforcing the public charge rules more stringently now.

The question may not be 'if' it can be done; it can be done with a joint sponsor (although I understand this may be more difficult for a K1 visa). The question is more likely to be 'should' it be done, given the day to day financial strains. I truly hope the best for the OP and wish him success.

Yeah right don't change your tune now. What could I offer a woman living in a lawnmower shed with a very poor roof. Who has no medical insurance, in a third world country. Working for less than her monthly nut, lucky to get more than a bowl of rice a day.   Mods Please close this thread.

She can do better.  I foresee her getting her GC and then leaving.

I am truly sorry if I caused offence -- I never meant to imply that you had nothing to offer your fiancee or any other woman. Love is the most precious of the things we can provide, and it cannot be purchased. (Trust me, I know.) My sincerest apologies, and I am sincere in wishing you the best of luck.

So could you!

This escalated quickly. No need to call someone out, mate. Take the high road and ignore someone if you're offended. It bothers them more than it bothers you -- they're waiting for you to respond in a negative way. Having been the victim of online criticism myself in another forum, I know how the attacks can feel. Rise above it. Be the better man and focus on the information here that is useful to achieving your goals.
