Please my Vietnamese friends here, My mom in Viet Nam, she never has Birth Certificate. In the list of required documents for beneficiary, they require my mother birth certificate.
And for other documents in Vietnamese, do i need to have them translated before uploading into NVC online application.
thanks so much

Hello everyone!

I am US citizen and have applied for my father. His case is approved and every thing has completed on september 2020. Since then we are waiting for his interview letter but nothing has come yet.
I called NVC and asked them. They told they have everything. They dont want any thing else. Its just they have to sent my father’s interview letter. I am waiting for that since 2020.
I want to know that does someone else here waiting for their parents interview letter? Or how long they take to send the letter?

Please if anyone know reply me!

Thanks

My pd is August,2010

Please don’t post the same thing multiple times.

Your father’s visa category falls under the Trump ban.

Just wanted to expand on what SusieQQQ mentioned - you are definitely not the only one waiting since 2020. Everyone (or at least vast majority) who has filed for parents is in the same boat.

I have been waiting since July 2020, but there are people who have been waiting since April 2020 (April 22 I believe is when the restriction has been issued)

Since then it has been extended multiple times. Last time it was extended recently on Dec 31, and should expire on March 31.

It can be extended beyond that, although with government changes that are about to happen, we are yet to see whether it will be extended.

Also due to government change, hypothetically, the restriction could be revoked at the earlier date. However Biden administration has not made any comments about the specific restriction that limits parents immigrant visas.

This is original restriction: source

This is the most recent extension of restriction (Dec 31): source

At the visa interview, your parents will be required to swear an oath that all statements made during the interview and on their application documents are true.  If you quit your job and remain unemployed at the time of your parents' interview, they will be misrepresenting themselves if they claim that you are employed.  Simple solutions for this: (1) get a new job with a salary that qualifies you to sponsor your parents, or (2) get a well-qualified joint sponsor.  Then your parents can just bring updated financial documents to their interview.

You may have to wait for a long while.  There will be no IR5 visas issued until the ban is lifted.  Then the embassy will need to deal with the IR5 backlog before interviewing your parents.  In the meantime, maybe you can begin the search for a new job or a joint sponsor.

Anyone got any updates about their cases yet? It's been almost 2 years since my mom got approved and still in limbo. I just emailed NVC to expedite my mom's case as I need her here when I have my baby due in September. Hopefully they acknowlege it. Her case just needed to be forwarded to US embassy Manila so she can do her medical and interview.
