What's a priority date?

Priority date (PD) is the date that USCIS officially received your petition

Hi all! Looks like I'm joining this thread finally too!

We sent our paperwork to Chicago on July 22, delivered July 24. Husband just received the text today with a IOE receipt number. Text says form i-797 to follow in mail.

Will that form have our case number to log in online?

Yep! I just got my letter today. It was sent the day after the text so add one business day plus distance from Chicago to you via snail mail & you'll have when to expect your letter 😉

Is  IOE number the one used to check case status?

Yes, it is the case number, but lately most of them (maybe all of them) starts with IOE regardless the service center.

My VJ timeline has jumped to an estimate of April-August 2020 for approval, but I guess it's playing up again since there haven't been many updates from Potomac recently. There have been a couple of April filers being approved this month which doesn't seem many but I know it's only going to be a small percentage filling in their timelines properly. I don't think this "case tracker" app is available on the UK appstore for me to do much more investigating.

I hear you. Mines at first said October 2019- now it jumped to March-July 2020....

I did see couple of April approvals though...

I'm guessing it is summer time and people take vacations so it will be slow for a while.

We will see....

Mine jumped to April-August 2020 and today it says Dec 2019-January 2020. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  I guess I won't put much stock in that and just go with the flow...
