New USCIS fees

Someone posted this last night and it's making me wonder what the fees are currently (before July 30)? Why are the fees going up so much? There's no way people waiting on Montreal are going to be able to file for AOS by July 30th unless they sent back their Packet 3 back in January or February...! With those fees, if we got our interview in July we'd definitely be doing a quick legal wedding

There's talk that the fees are going up to make things more efficient. I don't know if that includes more staff or something else. And I think I read AOS fee increase includes EAD and AP so the fees aren't quite as much of an increase as originally thought, but who knows.

What are the rates now before this takes effect? From what I read at the very bottom where it's explained If one files thier I-485 before the fee changes then to get the EAD and advance parole you file a new seperate application for those and it's at the new fees listed.

So it may be better to wait till July 30 and file and let the fee of $1,010 cover the 3 applications. I don't know the present rates so I'm not sure on the figures of before verses later

I just looked into the present fees from USCIS

I- 485 AOS $325.00

I- 131 Advance Parole $170.00

I- 765 EAD $180.00

Fingerprint biometric $ 70.00

Total $745.00

To file on July 30 and after would be $1010 including the boimetric fingerprinting.

To file the I-485 before the fee change is $325.OO Then because of filing before the fee increase one has to pay the new rates on the I-131 $305.00 and the I-765 $340.00 and I assume the fingerprinting fee of $70.00 Then the grand total would be $1040.00

Same time it takes now which is on average 60-90 days to receive EAD. I'd say closer to 90 days.

Unfreekin believable!!!! ... this means that because Montreal has been doddling on my file it may end up costing me not the low low price of $960 to file the paperwork for myself and my son but now fees of $1610.00??? Arrggggg!!!!! *stomping up and down angry as hell*
