Waiting for passport in the mail...

My husband just had his CR1 interview at the San Salvador embassy. I called him and he said, "They just told me then the interview was over and to wait for my passport in the mail". I wanted to strangle him and ask, "Didn't they tell you if you got it?" But they didn't say, aparently. I emailed the embassy and they say the passport should come in the mail by the end of next week if they approve his CR1, and that my husband was supposed to have paid the Cargo Expreso mail service $12 at the time of his interview. My husband says that he saw everyone else with little red pieces of paper that they were taking to a window and paying, but that they didn't give him one! Do you think they forgot to charge us for the mail service? If so, this will probably just prolong everything, yet again...

Anybody had any luck getting their passport back quickly from the San Salvador embassy???

We've made it so far, but yet it still seems so far away...

Tara

I think my huband got there at 7am as instructed and was finally done around 1pm! even though our interview "time" was "7:30am".

First congratulations for the successful interview  second, but not in this order, Happy Birthday to you!. If he didn't pay for the delivery probably his passport with the visa is at the Embassy, tell him to call the embassy and maybe it is possible for him to pick it up.

All the best to you two,

Adriana

As is so happens, the embassy FORGOT to charge him the mailing fee, and they say he needs to pay it at a Banco Cuscatlan. So he went, but the bank near his home told him that he couldn't pay there. So he went the 3 hours all the way to the embassy to see if he couuld pay there (where he originally was supposed to pay), and they wouldn't let him in!!! They told him to call the embassy phone number (which is actually a call center in Mexico...).

So I called the mail courier people from the USA and they said to go pay at a Banco Cuscatlan, I told them they wouldn't let us, they said try another branch of the bank. So my husband went to another bank, and IMAGINE THAT, they let him pay. After 6 long hours of bus travel all for nothing! He should have been able to pay at the first bank!!

Now I wonder if this will slow down our getting-the-passport-back...

Tara
