First off just an FYI for anyone in the Chicago area looking for a civil surgeon..i went to one in Lombard (20 min drive out of chi in good traffic) and paid $250 for a full exam (i hadn't previously had one as i'm adjusting from marriage as a visitor) which i assume is a decent price given that most places i called either wanted more,or didn't have a clue about it.I thought it was shady at first (kind of a dump) but doc seemed pretty knowledgable from what i could understand with his strong accent. (ok this is turning out to sound like it ISN'T a reccommendation lol)

But anyway..i go in tomorrow for my follow up for the tb test..i up until now knew nothing about tb really, but just googled and apparantly if you have a red bump on your arm it's positive?Which i do..so of course i'm freaking out although i did read that if you have been immunized for tb,then the test will show positive.I can't remember from my vacc records (that i gave to the doc) wether i have had it-so a couple questions..if i have had the vaccine,it would be on the records i gave him and so why would the doctor bother testing if it would just show positive? And i'm guessing i'll have to have a chest x-ray now-anybody know what that will cost? I don't have insurance here yet..so hoping it's not too much since these aos fees are setting me back enough as it is.

youll have positive skin test even if you had vaccination in childhood for TB so no biggy! Chest Xrays cost anywhere from $70 to $200.

I called a few places in chicago that would do it for $70-$80 just google for chest x-ray. Good Luck~!

Actually it depends on how big that red bump is.. If it is bigger than 10 mm (like 0.5 inch) it is positive.

I believe local health departments will do the x-rays and if you don't have insurance probably they can let you make payments, if it is too much. Usually health departements are cheaper then doctors. I was looking on google for you and this information came up, maybe it can be of some help

The Metropolitan Chicago Tuberculosis Coalition

now it said they were having a world tb day but that was in 2005, this is the place they had it at and the phone number with it

American Lung Association of Metropolitan Chicago

1440 W. Washington Blvd

Chicago, IL 60607

(312) 243-2000 x 240

it said that day it was 20 dollars, maybe you could check it out. as someone else stated it also depends on the size as if it is positive. Most people though from other countries get the tb vaccination when they are younger. But thats ok all you do is get the x-ray and everything will be fine. I wish you lots of luck.

Right, if the bump is tiny, it doesn't matter. I had a tiny red bump and also a gigantic bruise from where my test was done and nothing came of it...no x ray no nothing, except the cs saying I must bruise easily (I don't, he just sucked with handling needles).

Hey everyone...

So i went to my follow up today for the tb skin test..all was fine but he said i need a hep b boost shot and mmr...and wanted to charge me $125 for this. After already paying him 250 for what i was told would be everything i needed,i told him no and that i'd get them done somewhere else.Am i wrong here? 125 just seems like alot for this.I don't have insurance and i don't have a clue where to look to get these shots for a lesser price.

Yes, it is not a necessity to submit proof of ongoing relationship with the I-130. See the section starting with NOTE: under Number 7 of the I-130 instructions. I'll copy here as well -

NOTE: In addition to the required documentation listed in 1)

through 4) above, you should submit one or more of the

following types of documentation that may evidence that bona

fides of your marriage:

1) Documentation showing joint ownership or property; or

2) A lease showing joint tenancy of a common residence; or

3) Documentation showing co-mingling of financial

resources; or

4) Birth certificate(s) of child(ren) born to you, the

petitioner, and your spouse together; or

5) Affidavits sworn to or affirmed by third parties having

personal knowledge of the bona fides of the marital

relationship (Each affidavit must contain the full name

and address, date and place of birth of the person making

the affidavit, his or her relationship to the petitioner of

beneficiary, if any, and complete information and details

explaining how the person acquired his or her

knowledge of your marriage); or

6) Any other relevant documentation to establish that there

is an ongoing marital union.

As long you have a bill that comes to both of you for the cell phones, include a copy of your most recent bill. That should count as a document they're referring to in number 6 above. If you don't have any other mail at all that is addressed to both of you, you should have a friend and someone in your family follow the instructions for sworn affidavits under number 5.

It's a new rule as of either December or January to include proof of your relationship with the I-130. If they aren't satisfied with the proof you provide, they will send a request for evidence before approving the petition.

Holy cow. I made a terrible typo in my comment above. It should say "It is now a necessity" instead of it is not...

This place only cost $130 for everything, I'll have to confirm with my wife later. But she didn't need any shots. I'd give them a call and get there about 20 min before they open unless you like to wait.
