I by accidentally posted this in the wrong forum so I'm re-posting the same thing in the right forum this time. Hope that's okay. I just really need some help!

"FINALLY I got the approval email (2 actually) last night from the famous "CRIS". My husband and I are still in shock. It's so hard to believe that it happened last night!

Anyways, what is my next step? I know you hear this from EVERYONE I'm sure and I have looked but I'm still confused.

Can I do anything to get started now? Or do I just wait for the NOA2 in the mail and then instructions about NVC will be in there telling my what my next steps are?

I've read the NVC Jame's shortcuts too, a little confusing but if I re-read 'em over again and again I'm sure I'll understand it more, especially when I have the paperwork in front of me! ;)

Is this next process with the NVC difficult at all? The main thing that I'm worried about is those forms my husband has to fill out. His mail service down in Honduras is terrible and it takes 2 months to get something! I know about the Choice of Agent thing and I know that I only am supposed to send an email to NVC telling them to make me the Choice of Agent once I hear that they have generated that form, but after the papers get sent to me, how can I get my husband to fill his part out (if he has to fill something out?).

Can you tell I'm a bit worried and confused? Thank you for any and all replies! :D "

Congrats on your NOA2!!! Basically the next step is for your file to be sent to NVC. You can call in a wk or two to see if your case has been recv'd and the case #. You can also email them at NVCInquiry@state.gov, they normally respond to my emails within 2 business days.

In the mean time I recommend you check out this website and start looking into what's needed for your spouse's country. Also since the mail system is bad in Honduras I would suggest to have him download the DS-230 from the DOS website. Have him complete and sign part I (make sure he doesn't date it) and send to you along w/the necessary documents from NOW so when it's needed by NVC you will already have that done.

Jamaica is also like that so I completed all the forms and now it's ready to be submitted once I recv ppwrk from NVC.

Congratulations once again. And now that you've joined us here at the NVC, you should definitely read James' shortcuts over and over and over and over again. They're cofusing at first but they start making sense after a while.

The first thing you should do is check out the DOS web site like Nyseness said. This link http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3176.html will take you directly to the place where you will see what documents you need to send to the NVC later on in the game. Pick the correct embassy, in your case Tegucigalpa, Honduras and then click on "documents the applicant needs to return to the NVC". From I see you only need to submit the DS-230 and biographical page of you husband's passport (lucky you!). My husband already filled out the DS-230, signed part I (part II remains unsigned) and will send it to me next week so I can have it ready.

But before any of that happens you need to read the shortcut about the choice of agent e-mail and start practicing on how to create the label for the AOS bill.

Let me know if you have any questions as I will be ahead of you and can tell you how it goes for me.

Thank you both for the congrats! You guys were also very helpful!

I read that site about what's needed for the NVC and I see that you're right Mononoke28, all I need is that 1st page of that Ds-230 form filled out and his bio page of his passport. He's getting his passport on the 15th this month so we're all set there.

The Choice of Agent part I read (and re-read again lol) but I'm so nervous right now. I just hope we do things right! I've just got to keep thinking positive! :)

About the Choice of Agent email, could I write it pretending to me my husband? Or does my husband HAVE to write it himself? I'm just wondering if it really matters because it's hard for him to get to the cybers sometimes!

Thanks ladies!

Also: Good luck to you ladies with the NVC since you are both already there! :)

Quick question about the visa fee. It's $335. Does that go to the NVC or is that the fee I read about where you pay it the day of the interview when they tell you that you're approved?

You're referring to the IV fee and it's $380. Once you send back the Choice of Agent they will generate the IV bill. Also you CAN email the NVC on your husbands behalf BUT open a new acct for him instead of sending it from your own.

Oh it's $380, I forgot to add the security enhancement fee of $45 didn't I? Sorry about that. Ok, so I will be sending that to the NVC once the bill is generated and sent to me.

Oh, I can email them on his behalf. I didn't think it was a problem and opening up a new acct for him is what I would definitely do! Thanks for your help! :)

Congratulations! There will be two fees that you would pay to the order of "Department of State." First Fee is, the AOS Fee Bill which is $70.00 and the 2nd Fee is IV Fee Bill which is $380.00. As the others said, check with NVC forum. You will be able to finish up the NVC process in 2-3 months range.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

Also you CAN email the NVC on your husbands behalf BUT open a new acct for him instead of sending it from your own.

This sounds like one of these things that got started in a superabundance of caution, but without a basis in reality. Can anyone can come up with a single instance of a choice of agent designation being rejected by NVC because the U.S. citizen spouse sent it from his or her own email address?

I would kind of doubt it. Among a number of other things, how would NVC know that the email account belongs only to the U.S. citizen spouse? It's just an email coming in from the ether with a case number. And even if on the off-chance the email address reflected the full name of the U.S. citizen spouse, why would someone at NVC care enough to reject the designation (assuming they could or would)? I don't think they are worried too much about fraud here if someone coughs up the correct case number. Who else would have the case number other than one of the spouses or their lawyer?

This is all only my opinion, but this occasionally repeated bit about having to open a new email account for the non-citizen spouse to email NVC is also only opinion, and does not seem to be a well-founded one.

Meh

Since my husband doesn't speak English, what I did was I sent him an e-mail with the exact words to send to the NVC. He then composed a new e-mail, copied/pasted what I sent onto it and mailed it out. And I also agree that the NVC won't even know who the e-mail is really coming from, some e-mail addresses don't even make sense when people create them anyway.
