I pledge my allegiance to becoming a loser!

I gained LOTS of weight being sick/unemployed and I need to lose a lot of kilos/lbs before my move to America. In fact, I'm worried right now that with this weight I won't pass my medical visa exam :(

So, count me in.

I've started eating healthier already, and doing some exercise, and I already notice feeling fitter, not waking up so tired ... but sticking with it is HARD, especially on days I miss my husband so much the only thing that can make me feel better is a tub of Ben & Jerry's.

The clothes in my closet are in a whole range of sizes, so I'm focussing on being able to wear them again :)

Good luck everyone in their various weight loss enterprises!

Just wanted to share as it may be helpfull to anyone considering swimming...I took a swimming for fitness class last semester at school (mostly for mental relaxation)...to my complete surprise, I lost 14 pounds and went from a (US) size 5/6 to a size 2 or 3 (in 4 monthes)!!! The class was only 2 days a week 50 minutes a day. I seriously was not trying to loose weight and am not doing anything else differently...still run 2 miles 2 or 3 times per week. Needless to say, I am now addicted to swimming. Anyone who is swimming...try fins on your feet and paddles for your hands for more resistance (and great arms). ...The swimming class kicked my butt though- it was not just a relaxing hour at the pool...swim hard.

I've always wanted to do swimming as exercise, but exercising in front of people in a bathing suit is definitely not happening at this moment in my life. Hell, I find it hard enough to go to the gym and work out in front of people in clothes. :P

Try to get over this! I began to swim again because my kids love it so much. I realized if I let my own preoccupation with what I thought others thought of me, I was cheating my kids out of something they really love. And now, I swim twice a week (or more), and there is nothing like the feeling! I use very good fins, and my legs have improved dramatically.

If other people are spending time worrying about what you look like in a bathing suit, then they probably have bigger problems than what you looking better in a bathing suit could solve. Don't let it stop you! Heck, I didn't, and believe me when I say that I am not a supermodel in a bikini!!

I've got 2 weeks till I move to the US and I'd like to lose at least 2 lbs before then - 4lbs would be ideal!! My main goal is to start eating healthier (my ol' man n best friend joke that im a walking heart attack cuz of my poor eating habits) and go back to the gym. Im a member of Curves here in Oz so hopefully I can continue that in the States. Theres a Curves about 15mins walking distance from where we live. Id like to lose about 15lbs and maintain that.

I used to swim regularly and I agree that its a great weight to lose weight! Wish there was a local swimmining pool I could walk to where Id be moving - sucks not having a car!

Yesterday, I mowed our grass (45 minutes of nothing but SWEAT), 35 minutes HARD on the treadmill, and 20 minutes of weights.

Great topic!

Hubby and I are trying to be losers, too. We are going to the gym three times a week since February, and he already lost about 11 pounds! I work much harder than he does but only lost about 4 pounds so far.

I really have to control what I eat more, too. I'm just always hungry! I try to eat smaller snacks like five times a day, and never get so hungry that I feel I need a bathtub full of something! I used to walk and bicycle much more in Germany - here I always drive.

Please count me in!

Good luck everybody else - let the fight begin!

I'm a loser!

Today I had the 5th month visit of the 6 months required by my insurance company for the gastric bypass. I've lost 3.5lbs since the last weigh-in, which because of their schedule, was just 19 days ago!

O.K. Iam in too. I lost 120 pounds but when i got back from Egypt and not being with my husband. I stoped the gym and stoped Weight watchers too. Wierd what deprestion can do to a body. And i gained 27 pounds. I know I couldn't climb them pyrimids now, ;) I felt so good when i was on my diet and going to the gym. It is time to get back on it. I love weight watchers and there point system, I realy think it is one of the best diets out there. My problem is i dont eat enough every day and I eat the wrong stuff lately. So It's back on the diet again for me. Count me in.

Way to go Becky and Cas!!! Sorry if I missed you...I've been reading a couple of minutes here and there lately, not in one go...a lot going on at the moment, so not around too much. Eventually I WILL be on this thread a lot for anyone who cares...it would be really great if it stayed going...it's so great to see so many of us that want to support one another with this!!!

I'm doing.........okish. I could be doing a LOT better. I have gone to the grocery and stocked up, and I've eaten a LOT more healthy food in the last week or so than I normally eat, have mostly cut out Coke, and have tried to not eat so much junk. Yesterday was Corey's bday (well, Tues.), and I did have a nice "healthy" sized piece of cake. OOPS!!! (same place that made our wedding cake and I knew it would be soooo good!!!!grrrrrrrrrrr) Because of feeling so ill, I have also NOT exercised yet, and I'm fully aware that that is going to be KEY. I know it's a huge reason I lost weight in the past...although I did cut down on my portions then as well. I need to get out there, but have just felt so rough. I have a urinary tract infection that has pretty well spread to the kidneys (nearly) and I'm on a couple different meds for that, and I haven't gotten the results of my CT scan back yet. Grrrrrrr. Anyway, no excuses (that's what YOU are all supposed to be telling me, so go ahead and get all over my butt!!!)...I need to get with the program there for sure.

I have also been craving ham for some reason, and have had about 4 decent sized ham sandwiches in the last few days...and I KNOWWWWWW that's not low fat! I bought turkey too, but I went for the ham...ugh. Habits are SO hard to break.

So...all in all, I've done some things right, but not NEARLY enough to get where I want to be. So many excuses readily come to mind too, you know? Really hard to break THOSE habits too! (I'm too tired, I'm hurting, I'm this, I'm blah blah blah) JUST DO IT Nike says!

Good luck to all the Losers out there!!! :) M.

(I wish there was a way we could actually have something to compete for, but I cna't think of how we could do that online..might make it a bit fun!) :)

 O.K. I went to the store and got all my fruits and vegies. And started to count them points again. How will we do this ? Meet once a week and talk about how were all doing? I also make a chart with graph paper and weigh in every week and watch the chart it helps me to see my progress. Also i have another tip for you if you dont like diet soda pop. This is how i broke myself of reg soda I bought reg and diet and started of 3/4 reg and 1/4 diet

every day i added a little more diet till i couldn't tell the difference. Just my little tips :P

Hey Michelle, the slower the changes the more long lasting they will be. If you eat 100% the way you want to eat forever and make all those changes in 1 week, you'll probably fail. I think the best thing you can do is make small changes in your eating and make big changes in your movement (although I know some physical things can prevent you and others from that). Just do it! is right though.

Competition sounds fun.

Hey everyone,

How about a daily diary of everything we ate for the day - published here in this thread? This will force us to really look at what we're eating and let others give suggestions or tips. :star:

For example:

This morning I had:

16oz bottle of iced tea sweetened with sugar

slice of banana bread

several hands full of roasted and salted sunflower seeds

I like this thread. I gained weight after I moved back to the U.S. from Brazil in '05 and started working at my school. All they do is give us sweets - and I'm a sucker.

I don't have them at home - so that's good.

My husband gained about 10 lbs. in 2 months - but he's all muscle and you can't really tell.

I joined Gold's and am changing the way I eat.

It's hard, but I'd love to lose at least 20 lbs.

Good luck everyone!
