I've lost weight without doing that much exercising, all i've done was cut out drinking soda, i cycle 30 mins 4 times a week, but for the past 2 weeks i havent been able to cycle at all due to having a biopsy, so far i've lost 25 lbs in the past 6 weeks :o Something tells me this isnt right!! I shouldnt be losing this much weight with so little exercise, i havent changed my diet at all, just stopped drinking soda and drink more water.

I'm in. I want to lose 30lbs. I lost about 25 when I stayed in the Philippines for 60 months this winter, but gained most back since I've returned to healthy eating America. I am trying to eat smaller portions and better food. My main problem is I work in a tourist area 10 hours a day where I sit the whole time. Makes it hard to exercise when you get home after a long day. It's not physical exhaustion but mental exhaustion form dealing with masses of tourists all day haha. Also there is not a great selection of healthy foods to eat near me. So i have some challenges there. But here it goes. ;)

12/13/04 - Met online

04/02/05 - 1st of 5 trips to the Philippines. The last of which I spent 6 months.

04/02/07- 129-F sent to NSC

04/09/07- Receipt notice date for NOA1

04/13/07- Received NOA1

07/09/07- Touched - Due to phone call I am guessing

07/10/07- 2nd touch hmmmm should I be excited? HAHA

07/11/07- 3rd touch - may or may not be due to a phone call.

07/16/07- 4th touch

Well depends on how much soda you drank before hand. it takes 3500 calories to burn one pound. in one 20oz coke that's about 250 calories you've cut out. now say you drank 2 of those a day, 500 calories right? in one week, that's 1 lb loss on just cutting out 2 cokes a day and nothing more. I did the same thing, I stopped drinking coke and I drink more crystal light. I don't exercise more than walking further in a parking lot and always taking the stairs. I occasionally use the stationary bike and do dumbbell work though, just not as often as I should.

Now I'm not saying the absence of the soda is the only thing that caused the weight loss, but it's all part of the big picture. The exercise was a big help as well. When first starting a diet and exercise program there will always be a big drop, then it will level off. As you can see from this link here, my weight tends to come off in chunks.

I drank roughly about 6 cans of drpepper per day, now i drink anything from 6-9 .... 16.9 oz bottles of purified water with crystal light every day but since my biopsy i havent managed to get any exercise done except a little walking for maybe 10 mins because i start to feel tired, i then take a nap, get up have a slice of wholemeal toast, for lunch its a salad mostly veggies, for supper usually its grilled chicken with lots of veggies,( i have veggies with almost every meal) I dont eat after 6pm.

I can go through about 3 cases of purified water each week!

I have completely gone off caffeine and carbonation. I used to drink about 4 Mountain Dews every day, and it was tough to let go, but well worth it.

I have lost almost 40lbs since the middle of January. I hope to have gastric bypass surgery, but the insurance company is still fighting me. My doctors all think it's a good idea for me, and I believe it's a life saving measure. NO, I'm not looking for an easy out (if you think gastric bypass is the easy way, you don't know much about it), I am just looking for an overall better quality of life.

I eat a few carbs, lots of protein, and vegetables. I eat three times a day with a snack of a protein bar or similar once a day. It's not easy, food was once my best friend. But it was a nasty best friend who treated me horribly!!!

I have lost 80 pounds over the past five years by only watching my sugar and fat intake. I basically eat and drink everything (sodas too) but the high sugar and fat stuff very moderately.

A year ago I started excercising and since I am here and go to the gym with my husband (he has to, job requirement, hehe) I lost another 16lbs in the past 11 months.

I am 160lbs at 5'11 now and I want to get another 10lbs off...and it seems, those last 10 lbs areso much harder to get rid off...*sigh*.

We usually go running like 3-4 times a week, but with the weather here right now (either too hot, rainy or both) it's difficult. I don't like treadmills because I tend to hurt myself on them, so...last alternative is the elliptical trainer, but those rock!!

All the best to all the other fellow "losers"!!

I have to edit:

I gained a lot of weight about 12 years ago due to a heartcondition where my diet was basically my antibiotics and whatever I felt I could eat, usually not the healthiest stuff. I lost the weight without getting on a specific diet, I just find it too hard to limit myself to certain foods.

The key for me is, I eat whatever I like, but if I eat something I really shouldn't have, I watch my eating the following few days and do a couple extra sessions at the gym.

Boosting your metabolism is the keyword!!!

You can count me in too.

I only started reading this thread today but actually started trying to exercise more and eat less junky foods over the last two weeks. I'm frustrated though as I haven't really lost any weight at all. I weigh 149 pounds and would love to get down to 130 as I'm 5 ' 3". I've been on medication for depression and anxiety since my divorce and dealing with this process and I don't think this has helped either.

One of the reasons I want to lose some weight is that i'm going to a wedding mid September and want to be able to find something nice to wear. At the moment I'm squeezing into last years summer clothes and I hate it.

The "eating not so much part" hasn't been so bad. I made a weekly chart where I write down everything I eat each day which for me has helped. I've cut all junk food apart from a couple of tacos i had last week. I guess on a typical day it goes like this

2 cups of hot English tea (but with sugar and milk)

1 slimfast shake for breakfast

small fruit, yoghurt and nut salad for lunch

1 yoplait fat free yoghurt for afternoon snack

chicken, rice and lots of veggies (especially broccoli for dinner)

fruit juice.

I just bought my boyfriend this step thing from Walmart (it was supposed to be for his birthday but I convinced him to leave it at my house haha) and have being doing that 10 mins a day. I walk the dog for 30 mins a day in total ( I don't count the time when he's sniffing plants). I also like to do weights too and have just bought a skipping rope. I have all the "gear" but lack motivating my self to do it. Oh yeah forgot to add I also, not sure if anyone remembers these have a slendertone thingy which I use 30 mins a day to tone up my god damn awful stomach (never been the same since I had kids).

So as you can see I'm getting there with the food aspect I think -any suggestions if it should be varied more would be grateful, but it's sooo hard with the exercise , especially with the heat.

Any ideas why I haven't lost anything in two despite trying ??????????

I want to join too.

I know I'm not as fit as I used to be and I'm not happy about it. Ok, I still fit in my clothes, but the past 2 times a doctor weighted me I was like O.O no way! I'm like 10 pounds over the weight I would rather be. And my BMI isn't at its best.

I want to motivate myself to run again but I keep on giving myself excuses (I don't like the only park around here, I would have to run on an uneven ground around the baseball field :( Add to it the heat... If i am to run I have to do it in the morning or else I'll look like a tomatoe.

I have a 'jumping rope' but I never use it. I have back exercises to do but never do them either. We also have weights at home. I just lack motivation.

My husband and I want to get a membership at the YMCA but right now I think it isn't the best option money wise... I have to wait for the work permit to bring in money too.

We keep on saying we're going to go run on the mountain to sea trail but we still haven't either.

What do you do to motivate yourself. How do you kick your own butt to just go and do it?

Oh and Shona: keep in mind that muscles weight more than fat although they take less room. So you could be getting more fit but not loosing weight yet ;)

I think I'm going to motivate myself and vaccum the house. And maybe I should think about investing in a bicycle so I can go to the nicer park 4 miles away. I'm going to have to talk to my husband. ;)

It's really hard getting motivated- I just keep looking in the mirror and thinking some of that has got to go !!! Having the wedding coming up to is a motivater for me plus the fact I can't afford to buy any new clothes so I've got to wear my old ones, which I like anyway. Well so far today I've had 3 cups of English tea and a low fat yoghurt for breakfast. I did 10 mins on the step thingy, walked for 15 mins with the dog and will be doing some weights this afternoon.

I read an article on yahoo today saying it was better to do 30 mins of exercise than go all out and do 60 mins continuously, rest for a while and then do another 30 mins later. During the resting phase apparently more fat calories continue to burn. There's no way I can do 60 mins non stop anyway lol.

Oh I can tell you why!

Would you believe it's cos you're not eating enough? with your stats and goal along with your workout sessions, you need to have about 1700 calories a day! eat small meals all day long, and cut back on the carbs a little (I'm not talking about atkins style though!)

Right now your metabolism thinks you are starving so it's sluggish. eat more meals per day and have at least close to your recommended level is and your metabolism will be back on track. To be honest, once you pick it up a little with the meals, you will see an initial gain, remember your metabolism thinks you are starving right now so it will want to store what you are eating. Once your metabolism kicks in you will see the pounds drop off in chunks.

If you (or anyone reading this!) would like to talk with me about a diet plan, pm me. We can talk about what foods you like and how you can still have them yet lose weight. If I can do it, anyone can. Hell I just had 2 hob nobs as a snack :) and I am still losing weight!
