Now you really can't buy cocaine legally. A popular energy drink named for the illicit street drug was pulled from the market after the Food and Drug Administration warned California-based Redux Beverages against marketing the drink as a street drug alternative.

The FDA admonished Redux in an April letter for calling the drink "Speed in a Can" and "Liquid Cocaine" on its Web site, www.drinkcocaine.com. The 8.4-ounce drink contains no cocaine but packs 280 milligrams of caffeine, slightly more than the 259 milligrams contained in a 16-ounce Starbucks coffee and more than most other energy drinks, according to the Mayo Clinic.

James Kirby, founder of Redux, said the company suspended sales rather than risk fines and penalties; Cocaine will now be sold under a new name: "Censored." Redux is also pursuing a freedom-of-speech claim against the government, Kirby said.

The FDA's warning comes after years of criticism of Chronic Candy, which has sold a marijuana-flavored line of lollipops, cosmetics and other products since 2000.

Cocaine's removal from the market has sparked an online movement on social networking sites MySpace and Facebook, where the drink's fans have posted messages and videos in support of Redux. And some are selling new -- and used -- cans of Cocaine on eBay.

I see Starbucks is still in business.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."
