Happy 4th July 🎉🎇🎆 enjoy it!!! I was in America last year with my husband and we watched the fireworks and celebrated with a few drinks. Unfortunately we're apart for this one BUT it's the last holiday we have to spend apart. I'll be with him for this  Halloween, thanksgiving & Christmas. So I'm so excited for those. Just need to get my visa appointment out the way on the 12th July and hopefully not to much longer after that I'll be reunited 😊

Same here, so nice to be able to look forward to being able to spend all the upcoming holidays together with my husband. Yay!!

Now to just get that interview out of the way first, you are spot on!

Good luck 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Right. Aren't fireworks bloody annoying when you're not in the mood? Hope you get some quality time together soon.

I love them and we watched both Boston Pops and the DC

but my poor dog went crazy with the ones right here

but they sure were beautiful

This my first Independence Day in the US and the first one we are celebrating together as a family. It feels a wee bit strange to be celebrating this country's independence from my country but I'm just going with the flow.

I'm going to make baked beans from scratch (Dr BBQ's recipe), hotdogs, hamburgers, potato salad, corn on the cob, strawberry shortcake and we are having fireworks later. My husband wanted to get English beer to even things up a little bit, but I couldn't find any in the stores here.

What are you guys doing to celebrate today? Do any of you have "interesting" traditions that you observe today? (Keep it clean, please).

I missed your post on the 4th.

Our HOA sponsors free events for our neighborhood. Kids bike parade from the school to the pool area at 10 am. There was a fire truck, a float for veterans to ride, three classic cars, and hundreds of kids and parents with decorated bikes, wagons, and strollers parading down the street.

Then there was a big picnic starting at 11 am with hotdogs, hamburgers, sausage on a stick, potato salad, baked beans, chips, and cookies. There was a bounce house and shaved ice treats for the kids.

In the evening we watched a professional firework display with friends, from the comfort of the Starbucks patio just across the freeway. I sipped  my cuppa (English Breakfast tea) wearing my "Happy Treason Day" t-shirt.

Fun Day!

Flew to Ecuador with Mrs. T-B. and Mini-B.  Still here.  Typing on loco Spanish keyboard.

If were home, would've done the following --

  1.  Wear MAGA cap

  2.  Wear T-shirt that says  Relax, Gringo -- I'm Legal

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
