I will be submitting my AOS in July. I keep seeing posts that there is a new skin test required for TB. Will I need to get this done or will my medical, which I had in London in April be ok? I went to the CS yesterday and got my vaccination suppliment done - so I have everything ready to send of for AOS once we get married. Is this TB skin test just for people who have not had their medical yet/people who DHS has lost their medical or for everyone now??

Ok I think I may have figured it out now - basically its for people who havent had their medical yet? Here in states they only tend to only do the x ray if skin test comes back positive? But since my xray was clear - I should be all good .... sorry - just a moment of panic!!

Don't panic, there's nothing to worry about, my wife didn't have to do any TB test for the AOS, since most of the requirement has already been filled while doing the K1 application, it's most likely has to do with people that has to do full medical for their aos, like folks doing aos from a visa adjustment while already in the US.

My son came up with a false positive on the tb test and needed another chest x-ray.

The doctor was blaming the skin test for creating the false positive.

He says this is routine for some countries and does not mean you were actually exposed to tb.

An option is to take pills in case you are not sure if you were actually exposed to tb.

A clinic will have the pills which are refilled every 30 days.

If I remember correctly he took the pills for about a year.

A k1 physical includes a chest x-ray to determine if you suffer from TB or not. Since I had my physical in the US (I adjusted from another visa) they did a skin test, they always do if you do the physical here (I-693). It's absolutely harmless, doesn't hurt and after 3 days you come back and they clear you. Btw it does not matter where you come from, a TB skin test is always included in the I-693.

If you had the physical in your home country all you need for AOS is the vaccination supplement (I-693A), which shouldn't be more than $30 at your local civil surgeon.

I have had TB skin test when I started my job as H-1B visa holder in 2003, and it was positive. Then I got X-ray, it was clear. Doctor asked me where I am from, and If I got BCG vaccination when I was child. I remembered I got BCG when I was in elementary school. She said that because of BCG vaccination your TB skin test was positive and don't ever get any skin test again, whenever it was required, just told the doctor about BCG.

Anyway, a few weeks ago, I went to a doctor to complete my I-693 medical exam paperwork, and I told her what the other doctor told me a few years ago, I cannot get any TB skin test, can I do X-ray instead? She said that USCIS doesnt accept it, I have to have skin test, or at least I have to provide an offical paper work about my previous TB-skin test.. I went to the hospital where I got my skin test, they said they dont keep anything from 2003, they are all in archive.. I asked them to get that result from archive, they did it, but it took a week..

That's my TB skin test story..:)

My daughters and I completed our I-693 medical examinations in 03/2006 at which time chest x-ray TB tests were completed , results were clear. At our K3/K4 AOS interview on 5/30/07, we were informed that the Center of Disease Control now requires that a TB skin test is completed along with chest x-rays. Our adjudication was suspended pending completion of the TB skin test. We were asked to bring results back to adjudicator in a sealed envelope. I would recommend getting the TB skin test so AOS approval is not delayed.

I think I answered you already in another post of yours but yes, it is a new requirement even if you have your x-ray done during your medical exam. I had my AOS interview today and got an RFE for the TB skin test. Once I have that in however, my case is approved.

Hmm, i got my BCG done in Scotland when i was 3 months old. I also got the TB skin test done at High school when i was 13 and because i already had my BCG done i didnt need it re-done. The UK doesnt keep records of any vaccinations/immunizations after you reach the age of 25, they are all destroyed. That is what i was told when i called round the local health authority to get a record of all my shots i'd had as a child.

Due to already having my BCG done, if i had to get the TB test done would it show up as positive? or should i just hope for the best that Immigration done send me an RFE for TB skin test to be done?
