Oh no I was reviewing my n400 application to prepare for the interview. I realize the return date for one of the trip (supposed to be the date I entered the US) was a day earlier. Where should I address the error?
There are couple questions where or what you live /do/travel last 5 years. But I got my green card just 3 years ago from the application. And now I waited a year for the interview. So when they ask these questions, should I answer according to the application or really the 5 years from now instead? Thank you!

A day or two discrepancy in the travel history is generally fine.  The IO will typically go over your travel history when interviewing you. You can mention the correction of the travel dates at that time. When you go for your interview, you should have complete travel history (dates, places ) in a paper/excel - and keep it updated for any travel after you filed the forms. Same thing for your residences.

When the IO reviews your travel history, you can mention about the correction in submitted information and any new travel/place of residence since.  In my case, the IO had all my travel history in front of him (the ones after submitting the forms as well ) and briefly asked about the travels (I travel internationally for work so had multiple trips before and after).

Thank you very much. I will prepare a list of travel history. One more question- when they ask for nickname/ I do have an English name people call me, not the legal name. Does that count as nickname? I didn’t put on the N400. Do I tell the office that day too. Or just keep it simple because nothing is official with my nickname.

Just got out of federal building in Los Angeles with the Naturalization Certificate. The whole process went smoothly and quick! The whole process took about 2 hours in total and the immigration officer was super nice. After checking in, I waited about 5 minutes for the interview. The interview lasted about 20 minutes and then she told me I was approved and the Oath will be held shortly after. I waited another 1.5 hour for the oath and the oath itself only took a few minutes.

One tip is that you might want to go to the federal builder a little early even though it says you cannot go 15 minutes earlier than the appointment time. It’s because the line to get into federal building is long. It took me at least 25 minutes to get into the building. So I would say you should be in downtown at least 30 - 40 minutes earlier.

Also, thanks Matt for your suggestion! I did park in the parking lot you mentioned. It is very convenient and inexpensive!

That’s it - I couldn’t believe the long journey finally came to an end! Good luck everyone!

What documents did you take with you for the interview other than what’s required?

As long you have not used it in official capacity ( immigration, tax, employment etc. ), does not matter

Hi all,

My last post here. I was originally scheduled to be interviewed on 3/31/2020 in San Francisco. Was canceled due to COVID on 3/16/2020.

I got rescheduled for my interview on 8/18/2020. Interview date was yesterday 9/22/2020 at San Francisco.

Interview was straight forward. IO was very nice and chit chatted.  Civics/Reading/Writing tests passed.

I was told at the end of my interview that they are doing same day naturalization. I was not expecting that. I wanted family to be present but they said even if they did it later family would not be allowed to witness the ceremony and there would be no large ceremony.

So I officially became a US citizen yesterday 9/22/2020 with 8 other people after being in this country for over 20 years. They did not have any additional services present (voter registration/passport application/ social security). I applied to register as a voter yesterday online and will apply for my passport today.

Good luck to all and have patience, it will happen even with COVID slowing everything down.
