-The correct household size is 2 not 1 because its's you and him only.

-USCIS apparently wants the most recent tax return (2018) adjusted gross income to be above the poverty guidelines other than the current income. That's why most people get confused when they get RFE  for the I864 that says they don't meet the requirements when they actually do with their current income BUT they ALSO look at the previous tax return income. So in that case a Joint Sponsor would be needed.

That was my case as well. My Spouse's 2018 income on the tax return was below so I used my Mother-in-law as a Joint Sponsor.

- Tax transcripts are the best evidence to submit, so that's good

And lastly pay stubs and employment is good as well.

Hope that helped 🙂

Oh okay, so that's a new thing I didn't know!!, I was totally confident that it was based on his current income. Guess we'll have to ask mom again. Thank you so much!!! It was super helpful

Yeah, I'd expect your EAD/AP probably by February at the latest.

Moe428 it's like you're our lucky charm - or "reverse jinx" - just checked and saw "New Card Is Being Produced"  - this is for the receipt # related to our EAD. No update to status for AP, but of course we have our fingers crossed that it's actually a combo card that's coming.

That's great to hear.  Yeah most likely it will be a combo card.

I'm sorry to bother you again but my husband asked if we waited until 2020 would it be ok with the 2019 tax returns? or it doesn't work like that?

I guess you could wait until 2020 and file 2019 taxes as early as you can and send that, since the year is almost over. Keep in mind RFE's are time sensitive so be extra careful with that.

Oh okay, so we'd file for taxes as soon as the year starts and submit that. It says that the RFE expires on March 1st. Thank you so much!!

Also keep in mind that IRS begins to officially start processing returns at the beginning of tax season, which is January 28. You might be cutting it real close if your RFE expires March 1st.

exactly what happened to us. hence had to just redo everything and drop it off.

Pushok, thanks for your reply. I'm curious a few things from your experience:

1. How long did you have to wait for the RFE?

2. When you got the RFE, how much time did you have to complete it?

3. Was it tough to schedule an appointment with a civil surgeon?

4. How expensive?

5. Did you have to redo medical exam AND vaccines? Or just the exam?

Thanks!

1. How long did you have to wait for the RFE? Interviewing officer printed the RFE right during our interview so we did not have to wait for mail version.

2. When you got the RFE, how much time did you have to complete it? we have time until Feb 2020. but we dropped it off the same week we had the interview. Officer said we can just drop it off instead of mailing.

3. Was it tough to schedule an appointment with a civil surgeon? No, it was the same day.

4. How expensive? did not charge us.

5. Did you have to redo medical exam AND vaccines? Or just the exam? no, since exam and vaccinations are valid for a year. no need to. Basically physician transcribed existing results into I693.

Thanks!

please see my responses above. at this point we are just waiting to hear back whether they accept it.

Yes, this has happened to several of us.  We suspect there was a systems upgrade recently and the text of the message that used to show has changed.  You may notice there has been no change in the timestamp of the last update.  So if your last update was on November 1, for example, it remains November 1.

Did anyone apply for a SSN through EAD and hasn't got the SSN yet? How much time does it take for the SSN since the EAD Approval?

Hey all,

Had the interview today. It felt like it went okay but we weren't told if there was a decision made or not at the end. My wife missed one question that was asking for info about me but I don't think it was a big deal (she honestly just forgot!).

The thing that REALLY bothered me was that we submitted quite a bit of evidence with the original packet. Join bank account statement, two separate joint credit cards, joint tax return, and 15 or so photos of us. During the interview the lady asked if we had more proof and said something like "because you didn't submit very much"...

Apparently she only looked at the first pages of the bank statements and credit cards (the mail to: section only had my name) you had to look further through the statements to see that they were joint accounts. She thought they were just accounts in my  name. This really bothered me that someone who's job it is to review these documents could miss that all of these were joint accounts...

I really wish I didn't have anything to worry about but it seems like most people that are approved are told at the end of the interview.
