So the mail came Today and here is the Request for main evidence... well I sure did sent in the stuff, I guess original's and they lost it? How difficult it'll be trying to get another from Uruguay?

Seeing a lot of RFEs and what we did might have nothing to do with why ours never got lost when we submitted it the first time. BUT. We've stamped each and every document submitted to them with our A# (get the stamp & ink pad from Amazon). My wife also wrote a cover letter outlining each piece of paper/document submitted to them.

Got my letter today, Interview is November 6th woot woot, be prepared for a massive list of documents you need to take, and if anyone has a document in non English, get a translation of it now, in case you cant get it between your letter and interview.

We've the same date. Have you found a thread on things to bring to the interview from any of the forums here?

I'm wondering about the I-864.  There will be an updated version as of Oct 15.  If we have new info to supply, do we use the updated form or the form we initially sent?  I'm just thinking about current income, etc if there have been changes over the past few months.

Since we did sent in my Husband's original Birth Certificate, and we possibly don't have another one, can we send in a copy or do we need to take the long process of sending in the Original?

You sent the original birth certificate?  Bad idea.  You should've only sent copies.  I am not sure how you can retrieve the original one - you could try talking to them over the phone.  Other members might be able to help.

 

What you need to send is a copy of the original and a copy of the English translation.  Did you send the English translation?  If not, that's likely why you received the RFIE.  Make sure they're long form birth certificate copies (i.e. contains the name of at least one parent)   Also make sure the original contains the seal of the local birth/death authority.

Yes, sent the whole original including the English translation that included parents name and such.

If you sent the original and the English translation, it was either lost or someone was incompetent at their job.  Either way, you should just resend the copies that you have.

 

As for getting the old ones back, it looks like you have to file form G-884: https://www.uscis.gov/g-884
