So far super easy.  My husband added me to utilities before I got here -- no issue at all.  When I got my SSN, we added me to his bank account and credit card (in my maiden name until I get state ID), I'm on the health insurance - just needed MC for that.  We have a shared phone account, but only his name can be on it.  I'm there as an authorized user, but it has to be his account.  That's a T-mobile thing and I don't think there's anything to be done.

I've doing the authorized user thing too. The electric company was able to add him so his name will appear on our next bill which works for me!

Full disclosure, we bank with Wells Fargo so different banks could have different rules. Hopefully this helps with ideas of what you can bring to get it done! lol

On a completely tangent note, how is everybody doing when it comes to adding your spouse to utilities and other bills? So far, I' haven't faced many issues. Just wondering how everyone else is fairing???

My husband was able to get me on the lease of the apartment and utility bills without a problem. For the bank account and health insurance we needed to present MC.

We can't complain yet really. Living in Tulsa, OK is really cheap and we moved to downtown to not be in the rural area which is not where she comes from lol, and neither do I but with the years here i've gotten used to it. Utilities are really not a problem here either. We opened a bank account for her the other week and thankfully her SSN was approved because without one here they told us you cannot open a bank account. Maybe I should move my account with hers and have a Joint account? I don't really know if that's convenient for future paperwork. I plan on being a cosigner when we get her a car soon because she starts community college in 2 weeks and needs to drive :D. I got her on my work insurance as well, and we are both on T-Mobile plan. Regarding the lease I believe we both show in the the paperwork since she also had to sign. It was a new apartment building in downtown and it was no issue adding her because we were both moving in at the same time.

I have added him to my existing bank account. I figured it would be more convenient long term.

I'm holding out on second car until Christmas time for the end of the year sales quotas and black friday :) lol

Gotta wait until we get his SSN for a credit card. Not sure if joint or separate would be better in that aspect... I think individual would be the way to go in the beginning just so he can build credit here

Hi guys. Anyone here live with their in laws? We live with his parent's house for now because the apartment prices here in Hawaii is very expensive. Will that be okay for green card interview? We dont pay anything for the rent and bills. They want us to save first for now so we can have our own soon. Will that be an issue? What proofs we can give incase we dont have bills and lease of the house.

Same situation but we have our own floor and pay rent in cash, I didn’t have my name on any of my partners bills so I just printed a bunch of photos from the wedding and 4th July etc etc...

Anyone else still waiting for NOA1? Will be 2 weeks today since package was delivered :(

hang in there, mine took 3 weeks. I would call tomorrow and tell them about it so they can create service requests and maybe have people look into your case deeper. If you have mailed your forms and it's veen past 15 calendar days they can create those for you. Maybe that speeds up the process.

Woke up to the text messages this morning.

Exactly 3 weeks from submission.

I-485, I-131, I-765 packet sent: 23rd July

USCIS received: 25th July (signed by R MERCADO)

I-797 notification text received for all 3 forms: 15th August

For those of you as impatient as Javier, just wait. Calling them constantly before the 30 day mark can actually flag your case as someone hard/annoying to deal with. They wont start a case to investigate until 30 days have passed.

Before I sent in my forms I looked up the average wait time which was around 3 weeks so that was the time I was expecting to wait. Some people have been super lucky to get notification earlier, but most people wait around 3 weeks.

I'd be more concerned if you waited 3 weeks and heard nothing.

Update: Checked the New and Old USCIS sites today.  My I-485 has been updated today to "Fingerprint Review Was Completed" on both old and new since biometrics appt yesterday.  I-765 still says "Case Received" on both sites.  Biometrics appointment was for both applications.

I also went to a DMV appointment yesterday to apply for the Caifornia AB60 license (for those who cannot prove status) so I won't have to wait for EAD to drive.  Should be a few weeks before I get the permit and can book a road test. It's a controversial license on VJ so I'll keep everyone posted on how the experience is and timing-wise if it's worth not waiting for EAD
