So some good news. My wife got her ssn delivered after 3 weeks after filing. We also found out that she can pay for car insurance and be under mine which would allow her to legally drive my car. In theory her foreign driver license is valid for 6 months after entering the country, and plus the insurance it's ok to drive.

Thought I'd share that info in case it's helpful for other people that have been wondering about driver license and what not.

glad to hear that good news!

I don't see anything about being able to drive for 30 days  (non-military) in the link.  Am I missing it?   In California, a K-1 being able to apply for a regular license without EAD or GC is not possible.  We can, however, apply for the AB-60. Though the current wait time for DMV office appointments in LA is about 3 months out.

Perhaps something has changed. But 30 days was the duration for foreign person to drive in cali. Yeah cali dmv is ridiculous I live there i know. I suggest you go to neighboring town. Try outside of LA.

Will be one week today since my packet was delivered via USPS, hopefully here something soon. I’m very impatient just wanna know if I’m in the system yet.

USCIS charge for fees showed up this morning - yay!

F-1 status in US since 2017, arrived earlier than my parents got their GCs (IR5 thru my sister, USC).

My mom filed I-130 in December 2018 and received NOA1, petition still pending.

Timing:

  • I-485 (AOS) + I-765 (EAD) application package sent:  July 31, 2019 (FEDEX)
  • Package delivered: August 2, 2019
  • Funds taken: August 8, 2019 (paid with a credit card)
  • NOA1: August 13, 2019

Oh okay mine was August 1st so hopefully hear something soon, I keep checking my bank account to see if I have been charged. Quick question for those who sent via USPS did your tracking look something like this when it got delivered?
