We had a similar situation but didn't find out until the interview. Go to the USCIS Site, click on medical, find a doctor that does it for your area, print the forms, or they may, then do it over. If you have evidence of vaccination, take it with you.

Thanks! Will check that on the USCIS website today. Yes I have my vaccination records since I was born. I had the flu shot at the Mount Sinai but the doc didn't provide any paper saying I had It, I might need to call them and ask if they can provide me with that info as well.

Good Morning everyone!, I checked my mail today and got a Letter from the USCIS stating my Form I-693 Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record expired and I have to update it.

This means I must undergo a medical examination? Does anyone know how to proceed? I'm in New York City.

@andreaam , @Fe.Ta do you have info about this or anyone?

Maybe I will receive my interview appointment soon.

Yes, it does mean you need a new medical.  As others have said, go through the USCIS website to find a doctor that is certified to fill this for you.  Take all of the records that you have from birth, and even a copy of what you submitted with the AOS, etc.  Then, submit everything to them.  From what I haven seen, this could mean you could get the GC without an interview.  Don't quote me on it, but I have seen several cases on VJ that didn't have an interview, were sent this notice, submitted it, then got GC.  Even if you do get an interview, at least this should get you are closer to the end of this stage.  Cheering for you!

Also, is your 3025 completed?  It is odd they would ask for a new medical, even if it is expired, if you submitted a completed and accurate one with AOS within one year of getting it done.  But, with USCIS, better be safe than sorry.  I would just do a new one and not risk it.

I don't remember quite well when I submitted my medical exams. I think they kept my closed embassy envelope at the immigration port of entry.

I don't have a copy of my AOS packet I sent the only copy I had of form I693 with a copy of all vaccinations. The notice states at the bottom "If you receive an interview notice in the mail you must bring the Form I-693 updated". So I think they will provide an interview date soon. It'll be a miracle to get a GC without interview.

Thanks so much for the good wishesI hope everything turns out ok.

Then, yes, I would do a new medical to be prepared and not delay it any further.  Request could turn out to be 50/50 - maybe you get interview or maybe you get lucky with GC.  USCIS is even more unpredictable these days.  Always be prepared for an interview, of course, but wouldn't it be nice to just get it without one! Hehe

Are you sure that's what the letter says? Or is it a courtesy letter saying you didn't send one with your initial application?

My K1 medical was done in March 2019. My interview in NYC was last week. No new medical was required because I applied for AOS within one year of the date of the medical.

Just to clear things up. K1 medical done abroad is not an I-693. All foreign medicals use DS forms. So you never had a 693 and you don't need one as long as you filed for AOS within 1 year and your vaccination sheet was completed.

The letter says my I-693 Form supporting my I-485 AOS application has exceded the limited validity,  meaning expired on November 1st 2020, 2 years passed since I submitted it so that's why they are requesting an update.

My original interview date was March 18th 2020, back then the I-693 Form was current, so will keep you all posted about my case.

Fortunately in your case was still current. Congratulations about your interview!! 😊

Are you adjusting from K1?

Where did you have your medical? Inside or outside the US? When was your medical (Nov 2018?) When did you file for AOS?

If your medical was outside the US, there's no way your I-693 is expired because you never had an I-693. Foreign medicals use DS forms.

The rule is simple: Date of filing for AOS - Date of the foreign medical < 1 year = No new medical is required (as long as your vaccination sheet was completed).

2 years is the expiration date of 693 medicals done inside the US. If your medical was abroad, you don't have a 693, therefore your medical is still valid if you filed for AOS within 1 year.

Of course no one wants to play with USCIS, but I wouldn't do a new medical when I'm not required.

My medical was done in November 2018 at Trinidad de Palermo in Argentina. On April 22nd 2019 I arrived to NYC under a K1 visa, after marriage I filed my AOS in July 19th 2019, my medical exams where hold at Port of entry inside the sealed envelope. I added a copy of my vaccination form filled out by Dr Grillo in Bs As.( I lost this paper because is the only record I don't have a copy)

You're right I never done medical examination for the USCIS in the US. The letter says it is a new regulation to ask for a I-693 Medical Examination if my I-693 Report filed to support my AOS expired.

I'm getting confused now, I was going to do the exams as I never thought I really have a choice, I must do what USCIS asks, as I did so far.

Maybe I should call the USCIS on Monday to verify if this is a mistake or if I have to do it anyways.

The letter came in an official envelope with the DHS adress in Manhattan (same place where my interview appointment was schedule).

The letter literally says:

Nov 4, 2020

My home adress

Dear Applicant:

You submitted an I-693 Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record in support of your I-485 Application for Adjustment of Status. As of November 1, 2018, USCIS has limited the validity period for all Forms I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, to two years from the date of submission to USCIS. Based on these new regulations, your I-693 Medical Examination has expired.

If you receive an interview notice in the mail, you must bring your updated Form I-693 to your interview appointment.

Thank you,

It says I must do it. I don't know if this has to do with any new policy under Trump administration, tomorrow I'll call in to check what I have to do and why. But, again I don't have a choice, if they ask for it I must follow their instructions.

There's no new rule. Probably an officer that is not aware of the K1 medical rule. It's rare, but it happens. You have two options: print the Instructions and take it to the interview since your medical is definitely still valid or just accept their mistake and redo your medical.

That's why I want to call the USCIS tomorrow, because each time I called they sent a letter to me stating the reason of my call and what actions they took, this helps me as a proof as well. And will mention the K1 rules on the phone call and verify if I have to move on with the Examinations or not.

Will keep y’all posted about this very odd situation. Thanks for replying!
