Hello everyone, have a question. Does someone knows if unemployment Insurance is considered a public charge?

I've read in different blogs it is not considered a public charge for AOS Aliens with a SSN + work permit. Of course you must check if the state where you are permits aliens apply.

The thing is that I was not able to find info about the UI as a public charge in the USCIS webpage. I read what is considered and not considered a public charge, and is not even mentioned, so can't find specific info about UI and PUA.

It could help my husband and I if I also file for UI, but we don't want to have any issue with our AOS case. Mostly now that we are waiting for the GC or an interview date.

Hope someone can enlight me on this.

Take care guys!!

I'm not sure. I follow this guy on Youtube, he may have some videos to help or maybe ask him in the comments under his most recent video. https://www.youtube.com/user/usvisalawyer

Unemployment is something you or your employer paid for while you're working. So it's not a benefit but something you have paid for and you can claim it when you need it.

No movement for us. It's probably time for us to send in an extension form for the work permit. Does anyone know where or how to do that?

See the "Renew an EAD" section at https://www.uscis.gov/green-card/green-card-processes-and-procedures/employment-authorization-document, but you should just submit a new I-765 with the appropriate documentation and fee (see https://www.uscis.gov/feecalculator to determine if you need to pay a fee to renew). You should also have got a tear-off section on the letter your EAD card was originally attached to that says "IMPORTANT INFORMATION - SAVE THIS NOTICE", this section should be included in the renewal pack for USCIS to speed up processing the extension but if you don't have it, it's not required.

Application for Naturalization (APPROVED, Pending Oath Ceremony)

07/16/23 - Filed N-400

07/17/23 - Received by USCIS, Reviewed, and Scheduled for Interview (8/21)

08/21/23 - I-751 interview waived, N-400 interview passed!

08/21/23 - Recommended for approval and placed in line for oath ceremony scheduling.

08/23/23 - Oath ceremony scheduled for Sept 7th, 2023

Removal of Conditions (APPROVED)
07/19/22 - Filed I-751 and Received by USCIS

07/21/22 - NOA1 for I-751

08/21/23 - I-751 interview waived at N-400 interview

08/23/23- Approved!

Work Permit / Advance Parole Renewal (APPROVED & Received) in 72 Days.

Adjustment of Status (APPROVED & Received) in 374 Days!

Work Permit / Advance Parole (ExpeditedAPPROVED) in 109 Days.

K1 Visa Process (APPROVED & PoE) in 353 Days.

December. It took 4th month to get it, we're assuming the same for renewal.

Does anyone have issues with the USCIS App? Since last Saturday my AOS case is showing loop updates like "unable to find your case" and then "case is ready for an interview" and back again to "error: unable to find your case" and switches back to same update since march...

It's driving me crazy! Each time I see a flag I think there's a new case update but it's just this loop 😫, I'm wondering if it's only me or others are experiencing same issue.
