It seems like a lot of others were receiving case numbers in 2 weeks this year but things have slowed down lately.  I’m not really counting on making the next shipment, but hopefully the one after that!

Approved!!

NOA1: April 11, 2019

NOA2: July 16, 2019

I have the Visa Tracker App and as well Lawfully and they both sent alerts this morning. I confirmed those alerts with the old USCIS websites to confirm and found my approval.

Regarding the police clearance - we have 2 options here.

Money is just a police clearance, but there is also a biometric police clearance that includes fingerprints.

I have searched the guides, USCIS website and I am not seeing a specification. Any insights from anyone?

As always, much appreciated.

One more thing, and tell me if I am wrong:

Is “packet 3” basically your NOA2?

once received, email all necessary docs as listed on “Packet 3” checklist on US website.

Then, “packet 4” is your invitation to book exam?

Does this sound correct? Still have not received anything in the mail. Should be this week.

Thank you again

I was approved July 1 (or June 28... I’ve seen both dates 🤷‍♀️). I called NVC today July 15 and they haven’t received it yet. i didn’t get through until about 6pm EST.  They said it can take up to 6 weeks.  I plan to try again next Monday, and probably every few days from there on out!

Oh wow. That mean my case goodly don't reach either. My cause approve June 27. Trying to call them, but when my fiance yet through, we may hear the same thing

If you get a chance I recommend that you read the pdf file on the first page first post where I discuss in details the timeline of the NOA2 to NVC with case number issuance will take. Both of you are calling way to soon and then you walk away unhappy. I posted that document so you would not be in this calumdrum of wondering when or why something hasn't happened for you.

Yes I read it, there is a Facebook group I follow where many were getting their case number in 2 weeks so I took a chance and called!  My spirits are fine and im able to already schedule my interview without it in the Dominican Republic and just will track to make sure it arrives on time or I reschedule.

@Greenbaum Can you actually do this? Schedule your interview and do the D160 before your application gets to that stage or is it only certain countries?

Just wondering

Here is the general rule that I advise as most embassy's are all over the place on this issue. Once you receive your case number from NVC you are free to complete the DS-160. Either find a P3 letter (I have most and I am willing to share), contact the embassy website or email the embassy for a copy of the P3. In there it will give you instructions on how to proceed with payment and scheduling of the interview and what you need to complete the medical exam. Here is the P3 and other documents that I can share that are from the Nigeria embassy. I am always leary of Facebook groups and what others say and not say to do. I rely on facts and so I present them below.

Scheduling the interview can take 1 to 3 months. Once you pay the $265 visa fee at GTB Bank, you can go online to schedule an appointment at www.ustraveldocs.com You can get the forms online at http://nigeria.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visa_forms.html No need to go to the consulate to pick up forms. Download forms if unexpired or get current versions of same forms. Email LagosIV@state.gov for your interview date.

Wet signatures are no longer required for I-134 for your Nigeria interview. You are able to send in scanned documents.

If you find anything not up to date or the information is wrong, please share your findings. Please compare the date of the P3 of mine with the date from your copy, once you receive yours from your embassy. Keep in mind that I try and be factual with my information, but I can't do it on my own and that's where you come in and can give back to the community that comes behind you. Without others ahead of you I would not be able to provide this to you.  I can only share factual information if folks like you continue to be my eyes and ears for your embassy. I wish you much success in your visa journey.

Thank you for all the info and I will definitely pay it forward because I truly appreciate all the help. I find that my sub forum isn't that helpful all the time so can I ask if you have heard about Nigeria wanting co-sponsors to provide the I864 instead of the I134? I know on a previous thread people ran into that situation in other countries and I just want to be as prepared as possible.  I asked my sub forum but I haven't received a response.

For the K-1 process you use the I-134. The embassy you are referring to amounts to the CO not know what the regulations are.

Here is the official word from USCIS:

Proof of Financial Support and Affidavit of Support Forms

During the visa interview, applicants will be required to present evidence to the consular officer that they will not become a public charge in the United States. You may present evidence that you are able to financially support yourself or that your U.S. citizen fiancé(e) is able to provide support. The Consular Officer may request that a Form I-134, Affidavit of Support be submitted by the U.S. citizen fiancé(e).

I highlighted the phrase "may request" which leads us to believe sometimes yes and sometimes no. IMHO it's best to complete the I-134 and have with the beneficiary at the interview.

Nigeria is difficult. I would recommend that if you are near or somewhat above that you have a co-sponsor. If the petitioner can show a 6 figure income, I doubt they would ask for a co-sponsor.

If you are from Canada and asking questions about the process I recommend the following.

For all things dealing with the US Consulate in Canada head on over to the sub-forum for Canada where they will answer your questions for the processing of your visa from their personal experience. Link:
