In my country it is allowed to do the DS160 with the WAC receipt number ... Take a test by filling out a DS160 and do not save it in case you are not allowed to put the WAC

Thank you so much, I give it a try and update.

Would your be able to help me with a link to subforums honestly I couldn’t find any so far

I'll do more then that. I'll share the P3 from your embassy.

Here is the letter that you will receive from Mumbai Embassy. Read it over carefully and follow the instructions. Another member of VJ added some additional information contained below which outlines what he experienced.

Once you received your case number from NVC,  I would recommend you fill out DS-160 form and submit. Some say the packet 3 letter is nothing just waste of time same thing they have mention which you easily get from USCIS website when you called to the clinics to book your medical appointment date they will ask you have you received your packet letter or not. Just say yes and booked the appointment date however you will receive that letter within 2 weeks the day you will get your NVC number.

Go on USCIS website make your account with password and then pay your fees to Citibank or Axis bank. They will give you reference number. With that number you can book your biometric and interview appointment date. The fees are 18,500 and for medical but I recommend that you carry 20,000 with you in the event you need more. Be sure to  keep at least 7 days gap between medical and interview.

Here is a topic in another forum where those from the Mumbai Consulate are applying with good information.

If you find anything not up to date or the information is wrong, please share your findings. Please compare the date of the P3 of mine with the date from your copy, once you receive yours from your embassy. Keep in mind that I try and be factual with my information, but I can't do it on my own and that's where you come in and can give back to the community that comes behind you. Without others ahead of you I would not be able to provide this to you.  I can only share factual information if folks like you continue to be my eyes and ears for your embassy. I wish you much success in your visa journey.

We know the case number allows you complete the DS-160.  Not long ago you could use your receipt number beginning with WAC. NOA1 has this number.

Try your WAC# and see if it let's work on the DS-160.  Let me know if that still works.

Here is what the CEAC website says about the Application Receipt / Petition Number field of the DS-160 form:

Help: Application Receipt/Petition Number

Your application receipt/petition number was given to you by the Department of Homeland Security’s United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) after you filed your petition application at a USCIS Service Center. The application receipt/petition number is 13 characters long and the first three characters are letters.

WAC number is the only number given after filing a petition at a USCIS service center...

NOA 1: 4/5/19

NOA 2: 7/1/19

NVC case number assigned: 7/30/19

Just wanted to share my experience. I called NVC and got my case number! I called the number ending in 0888 and got connected right away. I was asked for my receipt number, name, and date of birth. I was told that now my case will be forwarded to the appropriate embassy and the person on the phone confirmed my email address.

I do have a question also. I read that we can check the status of our case on the CEAC website but in order to do so the website asks for an invoice ID, which I didn't get because I didn't know that I needed it. Should I not be checking the status of my case on the CEAC website yet? Just wondering...

Ok that makes sense...fixed the issue. Thanks so much!!

Glad you found us. We'd liked to help even more so I'm asking you to do the following.

Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline OR your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine their Embassy. The country that should be used is the country where the interview will take place.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

Once you finish that then return and you will see a flag in your profile. Select it and see what wonderful information will open up for you.

Thanks

One more item; if you haven't already done so go to the first post on the first page of this thread and down load the PDF file and it has many tips, tricks and hacks to use along the way.

Good luck on the rest of your journey.

Hi guys, I received an email from "Ask NVC" stating:

Dear Sir/Madam:

We recently received your visa petition. We will send NVC processing instructions within 8 weeks. Please resubmit your inquiry if you have not received any information after 8 weeks.

Has anyone gotten a similar email? What does this mean?

Yes standard email, says that they got  your petition and they will notify you once they assign your case number. I am sure you'll  have it before that as you'll be calling them!

Update: We have a case number. Called 603-334-0888 and was only on hold for about 20 minutes (I don't think that's bad). They ask for reciept number, name and date of birth. I was told we are in AP but that was normal and it doesn't take long now.

NOA1 3/19

NOA2 7/3

NVC # assigned 7/31 julian calendar date based on my case number or 8/1 date I was given over the phone

Will start on the DS160 on Monday. We are one step closer.
