I am the one who heard nothing for almost a month after mailing and my application was seemingly lost.  So my file been transferred to National Benefits Centre and I have updated the excel sheet.

Strangely mail was returned for my children even though we have the same post box address.

I am in the same boat as your kids. Our letter was returned for being "undeliverable". After 16 days of waiting with the USCIS website saying it was mailed out, they finally changed it to state what was going on. Now it's been 1 week after the update and us calling. We still haven't gotten our letter.

Have your kids gotten theirs yet?

For me the mistake was with the post office - even though I spoke to them a few times, someone was slack and didn't put my kids names on the mail box...hence their mail was sent back.  As I had my letter, I walked into to Tampa ASC and they printed out the ones for my kids.  Although our appointment was Aug 30, we completed our biometrics and now my status updated as biometrics done.

Has anyone else with the Texas Service Center (SRC) gotten anything for biometrics?

Hello there, I hope you are doing great.
My application is being also processed in Texas as well, and I haven't heard from my application in more than a month. It is getting more and more nerve-wracking, to be honest.

Stay strong and the best of the luck!

Hi guys, thought I would give a quick little update on biometrics which was done on 8/16.  Nothing too crazy.  Whole process for us took about a good 30 minutes or so.  When we arrived which was about an hour before our scheduled appt. time there was already a small line outside.  Line was moving though.  They were getting people in and out fairly quickly.  We actually got done at the time we were scheduled for the appt. so that was nice.  I did ask about my husbands biometrics since he did not receive an appt. letter (only daughter did).  Woman at the front desk was very nice and asked for his case number, etc.  She told us she couldn't find any scheduled appointments in the system.  I asked her if biometrics were not required for him, and she told me not necessarily.   She said that they may have not scheduled it at the moment, and to just wait and see what happens.  Now, you all should know that "just wait and see" is not an acceptable answer for me.  I know this woman was doing her job and knew no more than what the computer in front of her said, so I wasn't mad at her.  I will probably make contact with USCIS in the future, but I am in no rush at the moment.  Going to wait this one out for a bit before making a move.

I've searched but can't find an answer....we still haven't gotten our I797 in the mail yet. Uscis told us to wait an additional 30 days before calling again. My husband's GC expires on the 17th of September. I'm worried we won't get the I797 before it expires! What happens if his employer finds out or he gets stopped by traffic police?!?!

Maybe you could try going to your local office and get a stamp on his passport. In your timeline you mention the notice is lost. Did USCIS or USPS confirm that?

Also, the police shouldn't be asking for proof of status, pretty sure that's illegal. A driver's license can be used as proof of ID.

When I got hired last April, I asked HR what happens when my green card expires (this September), if I needed to show them anything and they told me they don't check because I'm a permanent resident. They only check if you have other "temporary status". This is a public institution in CA.

In California perhaps it is illegal to ask, not everywhere, you do not have to answer but can be detained if you don't in many parts of the US

You're right. I found this website that explains the situation in Texas, where they are located. It still looks that you cannot be arrested solely for not having proof of status.

https://www.aclutx.org/en/SB4

" Local officers can still ask about immigration status, if they choose to, but only during a lawful stop or arrest "

" If local officers decide to ask about immigration status, they cannot hold a person longer solely to inquire about their status or attempt to verify their status with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). "

" If a local officer learns that someone is undocumented, he or she cannot arrest or continue to hold the person on that basis "
