Good afternoon everybody,

Here's an update on our case.

July 31, 2019 - Package sent to Dallas, TX.

August 7, 2019 - Received text and email with Case Number. Package sent to Vermont.

August 14, 2019 - Received NOA by mail.

I noticed that my NOA states that they will send me an appointment letter for biometrics IN CASE IT IS NECESSARY. Is this a normal procedure?

Also, any ideas about how long is Vermont taking to process our cases?

Thanks everybody for sharing positive vibe and tons of knowledge.

Are you sure it is still in Dallas. Most are sent to service centers from there. Mine went to Nebraska.

I got my text message on the 29th as well. And then my I797 in the mail on August 3rd, dated July 29th.  Since then, I have received nothing for my biometrics appointment.

I sent mine on July 1st, I haven't received Biometrics notice either

Wow! Maybe you are one of the few who won't be asked for another biometrics. Where did your packet go? The only reason that I am concerned is that I am going out of town for about 2.5 weeks. on September 1st. I will have to have the envelope fedexed to me if it comes while I am gone. Trouble is that we are camping and moving every few days as we travel a few states.

My case number starts from SRC and i haven't received any mail regarding transfer neither update on the case status. So I guess its still in Dallas?

I don't know the code for Dallas. I don't think they send mail telling you that they are transferring your case file. My I-797 showed that mine had been transferred to Nebraska. It is unfortunate that they don't have some kind of system which sends your file to a service center close by. I live in Pennsylvania. Vermont service center would have been closer. But who knows, maybe there is some kind of system in place. Let us all hurry up and wait...My files have been all over the place since I started this process way back in 2015.

I filed at Dallas. The bottom of my I797 shows the address for Lincoln Nebraska. I sent my packet on July 22nd. I received a text on the 29th and then my I797 came on August 4th. When I began the process, I filed in California. When we married I sent my change of status to Chicago. My (first set of) biometrics were done in New York State. Then my initial interview was in Philly.

Hi guys, we received a text notification that our package was received with MSC case number on the 29th. That was 16 days ago. We still haven't gotten the NOA1 in the mail. I'm getting really nervous that it was lost or stolen from our mail box. Has anyone else waited this long for NOA1?

I received my text on the 29th as well. I received my I797 on August 4th. I think you should call someone. If your NOA was lost or stolen that is worrisome for other mail coming from USCIS. The one good thing is that your case file was sent to the National Benefits Center. They are faster there. My initial package when I started this was sent to MSC. I got everything quickly. People told me that filings sent there were always done more quickly.

I'm in tears...I spent 56 minutes on hold waiting just to be told they won't give me any info since I'm not the applicant. I informed them I just wanted to know if they had mailed out our letter yet and they still wouldn't even tell me that. He said it can take up to 30 days. Why on earth did I think they would give me anything useful??? 😭😭😭

I'm so sorry you had such a horrible time with USCIS customer service. In my experience, they are usually thoroughly unhelpful. However, the representative was right that you will need to wait 30 days before contacting them again. I suspect that even if your spouse calls, they will simply state please wait 30 days and call us again.

Mine were also 10 pages long each and I thought sending all of them was unnecessary so I did some research and touched base with a friend who went through the process (he used an immigration attorney, I did not) and found they have accepted it in the past if you send one statement per quarter. So what I decided to do with that information was send one statement from every 3 month period since we got married, so they can see that we have maintained the same bank account with both our names on it since we got married. I did the same with the utility bills because some of them were 5+ pages long, I only sent one bill invoice from every 3 month period, which included vehicle/mortgage statements (both in both our names), our cable bill (in my husband's name), power (in my name), and trash (in both our names).

We have bought a home together and have jointly filed for taxes since we married in 2015. My name is on utility bills, car insurance, house insurance, health insurance. However, we only opened a joint account in May together. Initially we had gone to the bank to put my name on the bank account back before my green card came. She denied me as she said, my not having a social security card was a "red flag". That in itself is another story about a moron who works at a social security office. Because I did not have a social security card, my license expired and I could not get another one until I had a social security card. ANYWAY, we just got accustomed to me having his bank card to grocery shop and everything else I purchased was done online. At my interview I was not asked why we did not have a joint account. That being said, I applied for my 10 year card on July 22nd. I received my I797 and am waiting for my biometrics appt. I only sent one month bank statement because that is all we had since we just went to a new bank. What are they going to do? Send me back to my home country? Really.
