I meant that IF USCIS should magically receive it but I canceled the check. They would return the package to me to let me know that they were not able to cash the check, right?

Sorry to hear that. 😕 I'd ask USPS why the same update since Wednesday and I'd probably go to the post office where I mailed it from to talk to a real person. Idk, hope it all works out for you.

Have you reached out to USPS to see if they can help you with locating it? Did you do return receipt when you mailed it?

Unfortunately I did not send it we with a return receipt. Only that someone has to sign for it.

I decided to call USCIS this coming Wednesday to see if they have received the packet. I I should have received my case number via text message by now.

Still nothing.

If USCIS tells me that they haven't received anything I will send out a new packet with UPS and cancel the check.

I mailed my packet the same day as you and I haven't received any notifications or texts or anything yet. It takes a while. If I were you I would contact USPS first.

I wouldn't worry about it. I've never received my case number via text or email, some people never do. I just waited and USCIS mailed me the NOA within two weeks.

I'm sure you'll be fine. Try to check with UPS first. I wouldn't create a confusion by sending out a new packet.

I agree, it might confuse things if they receive another. If you don't hear anything 2 weeks after mailing I would question things, but I think it makes sense to wait a while (as hard as that is!)

When should I expect the extension letter in the mail? And when do they usually cash the check or charge the credit card?

Packet was sent out on the 22nd.

Packet was sent out on the 22nd.

My packet was delivered on 7/11, cash checked 7/16, and extension letter received 7/19. So it generally doesn't take long.

I was reading a thread on VJ about similar situation. Someone has mailed a new packet since they were worried that USCIS hasn't received the first one. It was such a mess later. USCIS received their first package but couldn't bank the cheque since it has been cancelled, then later they received a second package. There was hell a lots of confusion and delays because of that.

If USCIS won't cash your cheque by Friday this week, then call them up. Also, do you have a tracking number from UPS? If it has been delivered by UPS than you should be fine.

I have a USPS tracking number.

It arrived at the Dallas network distribution center on the 23rd. Ever since then I get an update every day around 2 PM saying that my packet is in transit to the next facility. 

So I don't know if USCIS received it or if it's still with USPS.

Someone from USCIS was supposed to sign it but I didn't even get that update. I'm also still waiting for the text message with my case number.

I mailed my packet on the 22nd, same as you, and my credit card was just charged this morning.

 

If you have a tracking number and it was supposed to be signed, contact USPS.
