Hi everyone,

We will be filing our I-751 this month and have some questions. We have evidence for joint tax filing transcripts, joint credit cards statements (me as authorized user), joint healthcare and automobile insurance, documents with spouse as primary beneficiary. We also have plenty of secondary evidence such as trips, photos, wedding expenses, and affidavits.

What we do not have is evidence on sharing financial responsibility. My husband and I have a joint banking account but it is not active. Since I make a lot less than he does, he pays all the utility bills, mortgage, insurance, and household expenses. The money in our personal accounts (mostly mine since I barely have any expenses) is being saved so that we can buy a house/car together. Should we explain this in our cover letter?

We also just realized that our phone company never put my name on the second line. Both phone numbers are under my husband's name. Should we still include phone bill statements?

If the phone statements only on your husbands name, I wouldn't submit those. We don't have any joint credit/debit cards or bank accounts, but I'm not worried about it. Do you have any joint lease or mortgage documents? If yes, add them as well.

We never submitted those for our initial gc application and we were find. we didn't submit them for our i751 either but we have other stuff evidence that we included such as leases, our pet adoption papers, mortgage application and mortgage papers, etc. Not Everyone has joint bank accounts nowadays so it's not that big of a deal. U can just explain that if you are asked at your interview. I'm the permanent resident and our phone and utility bills are all on my name because I have better credit and it saved us deposit money and also because where we live they only allow one person's name on the accounts. Our car is also on my name because I had better credit when we purchased. The only stuff on both our names is our pet's adoption papers and our mortgage and previous leases. Don't stress too much about that. If they ask you can simply explain.

You can’t apply for citizenship N-400 until you have both been married 3 years and a permanent resident for three years. They will reject concurrent N-400 on grounds of this. You can apply for N-400 once you meet citizenship criteria with a pending I-751 but not before! If you already knew this and I misunderstood your pose then my apologies!

Yeah I meant next summer, if we are still waiting on I-751 to be approved but he's eligible to apply for citizenship, whether its a bad idea for both to be going on at the same time.

We are closing on our home next week and had the same issue. My lender was able to lift that requirement even though I didn't get the letter in the mail yet. I called uscis and asked for my receipt number and my lender was able to check my case status on the website. Realizing that it was a matter of time to get the receipt in the mail and along with all of our rest of paperwork for the loan being in order he requested to lift the restriction and we were approved today. We are on track for closing next Friday. Have a conversation with your lender and see if they're able to work something out. I'm also the one making the bigger salary out of the 2 of us and I thought they wouldnt risk it but it worked out.

@Ophelia27 I really appreciate the insight! It's nice to know we're not alone on this one. I will definitely take your advice and see if it helps.

Just curious, but how many days are people seeing for payment via check to go through? Our package was picked up from the Dallas PO Box on Wednesday on 7-17. Check not cashed yet. Husband and I were neglectful and forgot to send in the form to get text updates 😕 .

Hi all :) I don’t recognize anybody here cuz my crowd is probably all in the April 2019 thread lol (I kind of procrastinated for way too long - could’ve done it back in April since my green card is expiring on 7/25)

FedEx delivered my ROC package to Lewisville, TX on 7/11 and it was signed by “brobinson”. I didn’t opt for e-notification, haven’t received any notice, and my check hasn’t been cashed yet. I know it’s only been 3 business days but I’m just kinda worried since my card is expiring on 7/25.

Is it pointless to call USCIS now for updates since they have neither cashed my check nor sent out any notice yet?

I just received my 18-month extension letter.

Here's the timeline for me:

7/11 petition package delivered to Lewisville, TX

7/16 called USCIS and got a receipt number for online tracking

7/17 check cashed

7/19 received extension letter

It depends, anywhere from a few days to a week, at least that's what I've seen in this thread.

I got this nice information post from the March 2019 ROC thread (quoted from vkbruh1114) and I agree with you that we should indicate what service center our application was routed to. Some March filers have gotten biometrics but no movement yet, some had interview schedules already last June and July, so this will serve as a good tracker depending on our service centers.

Mine is in California Service Center too, WAC.

“Just to summarize based on responses by Service centers: please correct me if I'm wrong

Vermont Service Center (EAC) - Biometrics done for most but no movement after that

National Benefits Center (MSC) - Most people have for interview requests already (within 2 months of submission?)

Texas Service Center (SRC) - Most people have not heard anything since submission, not even bio-metrics request (from my experience, SRC uses old bio-metrics so you guys should not worry)

California Service Center (WAC) - I've not heard many people submitted from WAC here, please respond whats the latest if your application went here.

Potomac Service Center (YSC) - I've not heard many people submitted from YSC here, please respond whats the latest if your application went here.

I recently saw an update on workload transfers by USCIS: https://www.uscis.gov/workload-transfers

They have moved a lot of Vermont I-751 cases to Potomac Service center, have a look.”

Current timeline:

July 2019 - filed I-751

August 2020 - filed N400

Sept. 2020 - i-751 status "Case Was Transferred to a New Office". Transferred to NBC.

April 12, 2021 - N400 interview in LA passed (with a pending i-751)

May 20, 2021 - I-751 status changed to Approved and N400 status changed to Oath Will Be Scheduled. 🤩

May 21, 2021 - received a call and email from USCIS Los Angeles with my NOA with my oath schedule.

May 28, 2021 - oath taking schedule in USCIS DTLA office. 😍
