Good luck!!! :) i’m sure you guys will do fine! Let us know how it goes.

Thank you so much! I'm sure it'll probably be fine too, but it's just nerves since it's been nearly 2 years since we filed our K-1. Seems like a lifetime ago!

There's a lot riding on this interview considering we never got our EAD/AP! Looking forward to hopefully being done with USCIS for a while! 😂

Hey guys! We just had our AOS Interview this morning in Nashville, and it went really well! Our immigration officer didn't approve us on the spot, but she said so far everything looks good on her end. She was smiling, upbeat, and positive, so I'm hoping that's a good sign!

If you're interested, feel free to read my review here: https://www.visajourney.com/reviews/view-dos-cis-reviews.php?entry=26966

Congrats on the successful interview. We had a very similar experience and weren't approved on the spot and now our status online shows: Interview Was Completed And My Case Must Be Reviewed

Is your online status the same?

Thanks so much! We're very relieved it's over, and we're exhausted!

I've been checking our case status this afternoon, but it hasn't changed from "Interview was Scheduled" just yet. I imagine our status could change overnight or tomorrow sometime. We'll see!

Still no sign of EAD/AP, but hopefully we'll have the Green Card in-hand soon! :jest:

Hello,

My husband and I had our green card interview on Thursday, 8/22 in Newark, NJ.  We got there an hour early at 1215p and was told to come back no more than 30mins before the scheduled time. We went back at 1245p for our 115p interview. They called us in at approximately 140p and we were done by 150p. Once we got in to the USCIS officers office we stated the oath and sat down. We gave our IDs (passport and drivers license) along with our marriage certificate and both birth certificates. My husband had both pointer fingers scanned once more along with a facial scan. The officer then asked for joint documents and our lawyer also gave her a stack of photos (I printed far too many. There was about 150 photos that we brought with us). The officer skimmed through the photos asked about two and kept roughly 20-30. As she was going through the joint documents she asked my husband to state his full name, DOB, our current address and the questions listed on the AOS application (ie - have you ever been convicted, are you a terrorist, are you a spy, have you ever been arrested, etc). Once he finished answering the questions she handed us a print off stating that she will be approving his green card once the fingerprints came back. The next day on Friday, 8/23 we received notification that his green card was APPROVED the same day as our interview.

Joint documents we brought:

- health insurance

- car insurance

- bank statement & voided check (check wasn’t necessary just extra documentation)

- dental insurance

- cell phone bill

Other documents we brought:

- photos (~150 from when we first met to present)

- notarized letter from my parents stating we currently live with them (lawyer recommended but it is not a requirement)

- employment letter stating my current position, salary and that my husband is listed as my beneficiary

- paychecks

- 401k statement showing my husband as beneficiary

We brought at least 3 months worth of documents just in case, however, we only gave the USCIS officer one months worth of joint documents which was sufficient enough for our case. I recommend being over prepared because every officer is different and may require different documentation as proof of evidence.

Good luck to everyone on future interviews!

** UPDATE: we received the green card Thursday, August 29th. Exactly one week from the interview. You will receive two mailings. One notice stating “Welcome to the US. You’re approved” and the second mailing will be the actual green card. Our mailings were a couple days apart which is normal. **

I keep checking our case status online since our interview yesterday, but it still says "Interview was Scheduled." Hopefully that'll change soon, and we'll have the GC in hand before too long! We're hoping to book a flight to England in October, so I'm really hoping we get the GC soon before flights get even more expensive.

Thank you!! I’m sure it’ll change soon! Sometimes they don’t update but I’m sure you’ll hear something by the start of next week if not already. Fingers crossed you’ll have the GC very soon and will be on your way to England! We were hoping to get back to Northern Ireland for Christmas but with my husbands new job the holidays are his busy season so he probably won’t get the time. Keep us posted on when you hear about the GC!

Question, on the GC checklist, it references to bring the sealed envelope/medical I-693 form with (if not already submitted). I mailed that with our initial application. For those that had their interview, did you encounter any issues due to you not bringing a copy of the form you submitted? I have an extra vaccination sheet I'll bring and a medical CD (I believe for the chect x-ray) that I'll bring as well. Did they ask much about that?

I wasn't asked for anything to do with the medical, he just confirmed that we had already had one done for K1

Our interviewer stated that she would be using the medical submitted with the k1 application.

I hope this helps & luck on your interview!

Not sure if this is relevant to you and surely is not helpful in hindsight, but for others reading:

https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-8-part-b-chapter-3

"4. K or V Nonimmigrants Applying for Adjustment [26]

K and V nonimmigrants applying for adjustment of status are not required to repeat the medical examination if the application was filed within one year of the date of the original medical examination, and:

The medical examination did not reveal a Class A medical condition; or

The applicant received a conditional waiver in conjunction with the K or V nonimmigrant visa or the change of status to V and the applicant submits evidence of compliance with the waiver terms and conditions. [27]

If a new medical examination is required and reveals a Class A medical condition, a new waiver application will also be required. In such cases, the officer should determine whether the applicant complied with the terms and conditions of the first waiver, if applicable. Such determination should be given considerable weight in the adjudication of a subsequent waiver application. [28]

Even if a new medical examination is not required, applicants must still comply with the vaccination requirements if the vaccination record was not included as part of the original medical examination report. If the vaccination report was properly completed at the time of the overseas examination, the officer may accept the vaccination assessment completed by the panel physician.

An applicant’s overseas medical examination report completed by a panel physician should already be in the applicant’s A-file. If it is not in the A-file, the officer should request the medical examination report through a Request for Evidence (RFE).

If the applicant was granted a change of status to V in the United States, [29] the medical examination report completed by the civil surgeon should be in the A-file created at the time that the change of status was initially granted."

If you complied with the above and filed AOS within one year of your overseas medical exam date, the I693 and its procedures/policies do not apply to you as a K1 applicant. It does not matter when your AOS interview happens, as long as you filed AOS within one year of the medical exam date (and you meet the above conditions), your medical will never expire.
Submit a photocopy of your personal copy of the DS3025 Vaccination Record with I485 and bring your personal copy to the AOS interview as back up.
Your actual overseas medical exam documents were collected at your POE as they were IN your sealed K1 Visa packet and will be sent from CBP to DHS for storage in your A-file.
Your interviewing officer will collect your A-file for review at your AOS interview or shortly after and confirm that your previously submitted K1 medical exam and vaccinations meet the requirements.

So the two big questions are:

1. Is your DS3025 marked complete? Check the bottom left corner for the checkbox that says "K1 Visa applicant voluntarily completed vaccination requirements"

2. Will USCIS receive and issue you a receipt number within one year of your overseas medical date to have complied with the one year submission requirement?

If yes, you have completed the medical requirements to adjust status.

To answer your original questions, if you redid your medical necessarily or unnecessarily with a US Civil Surgeon and had a new I693, you dont need to bring a copy of it to the interview. There would be only an original and you had a choice of whether or not you submitted it with your I485 as it's not necessary to do so upon filing. You could have completed it closer to your interview and submitted it then.
