hey everyone, I got my NOA2 a week or two ago and I was wondering if the National visa center will send me something saying that they forwarded my case to the embassy. Do they send you something with a new case number on it? I was wondering because I have to tell my SO when he should begin going to the post office and checking for mail.

THANKS!!

Just to correct this one... the hardcopy of NOA2 will come from the service center that processed and approved your I-129F. As for the NVC stage, they will inform the petitioner thru a letter (postal) that they got the case from the service center and yes, with the new case number. To know if it's already forwarded to the embassy, you'll need to inquire thru phone call or email more or less in 2 weeks time...

You can also call periodically to see when NVC gets it - you'll need the WAC number off your NOA1 (the USCIS case number), and the beneficiary's name and date of birth:

INQUIRING ABOUT CASE NUMBER:

NVC Info (to find out when your case arrives/leaves there and to get NVC Case number):

Call (603) 334-0700 - press "1" for English then "5" to speak to a rep on the phone. Be ready with USCIS case number, beneficiary name and birthdate. K1 visas are NOT entered into the automatic system. Reps are available 7:30 AM - 12 midnight Eastern time. Call right after they open or right before they close for best results - during the day lines are always busy.

You may want to call, if you're curious or want to be able to better predict your timeline. I got me "NVC has received the following petition" letter AFTER the package had already left NVC and arrived at the Embassy.
