Esalaams/Hello/Salut

I would like to ask those who have used Royal Air Maroc, what their opinion of the airline was? As I recently come back to the States (for a very brief time) but want to return to DZ ASAP and my usual agent has not come up with a good enough quote for me...so I found RAM had a ok fare...wondering if I should bother with it? My alternative would be going to Europe, then on a ferry to Alger... which would cost me much less, but be a big hassle... thanks (saha) as info would be appreciated!!!

I've heard some other people complain about it but we've had nothing but good experiences with RAM. Adnan lost his luggage last time but turns out it was the Lufthansa connection and the bags never made it to his RAM flight at all so that wasnt their fault. I certainly intend to use them next time we go so I guess you could consider that a recommendation :)

Thanks everyone for your opinions... I was thinking using them would not be too bad... I fly frequently so I would basic ins/outs of the larger airlines...but not RAM...but the price appealed to me...soo...

Also is there anything I need to know about the Casa airport? I have not been to the airports in Maroc...

Take the plane Henia!!!

My husband and I took the ferry to Oran (same as the ferry to Algiers). I have to say that I loved it (not at the time.. more like, it's a fun story to tell now).. it was a fantastic adventure. We went from Marseille and the ferry ride alone took 24 hours. We thought "Hey, we can't get a plane reservation from Paris and the boat is the perfect solution - it's cheap and we can take as many bags as we want!" HA. You have to handle your own bags and, unless you have a cabin, you have to stay with your bags the whole time. The only way out of this is if someone offers to watch your bags and then you have to decide if they look like they can be trusted. Luckily we were sitting next to a nice family and we alternated watching each other's bags. Even then I ALWAYS carried my backpack with all of our important stuff in it - passports, money, computer, DCF stuff. Just thinking about it is stressing me out. The chairs are so uncomfortable that my husband ended up sleeping on the floor (so did most people). There was no room on the floor so I had to sleep in my chair. I was also the only American on board which was fun for a lot of people - not for me. One thing I did like about the boat was that the food was delicious and cheap.

I can't even begin to tell you what a pain it would be to travel on the boat by yourself. Pay the extra money and take the plane... save yourself the trouble.

And anyway I juyst booked my RAM flight which I got for under 900$ so I am happy... I would have only saved about 150$ going on the ferry..LOL

I have used them 4 times now. They were always late in taking off to come back to the US. Two of those times wasn't a big deal, one time I was sweating it, but made it. The third time we took off 2 hours late. I missed the last flight home and spend a night in NY. Can't say I was happy about it since leaving him is always gut wrenching, then not being able to log on to see him an extra night sent us both over the edge. We ended up spending about $75 for the phone call just for that one night when normally I pay not a dime for yahoo.

But on the other hand, not many other choices, so I would do it again, just prepare myself for the "what if's".

Well I am not really worried about the hotel in Casa... cos I know a real luxe hotel for around 55E. And with this one I mean they will pick you with in a Mercedes and deluxe all the way =) And I can always have my dH's family come to get me if anything happens. I just have heard Casa airport is not safe for women traveling alone (even thou I have been to countries that they said women should not travel alone to) LOL

ehhh its safe. just don't let those guys hovering around get your luggage for you. they will demand money and its pointless unless you have a ton of luggage and can't do it yourself.

what hotel is that that picks you up in a mercedes, etc? although i don't know what 55e is. lol
