I've noticed that a lot of people count the days until their EAD and AOS approval. It seems most people count from the day they mail or the day their package is received by USCIS in Chicago.

Is this correct? And if so, why not from the NOA date?

11/2004 - Met in Brazil

09/2006 - Apply for K1

03/2007 - K1 approved

04/2007 - Apply for AOS & EAD

07/2007 - EAD approved

01/2008 - Conditional Residency approved

11/2009 - Apply to remove conditions

02/2010 - Permanent Residency approved

11/2010 - Apply for Citizenship

03/2011 - Citizenship approved

07/2011 - Moved back to Brazil

I started counting the days the day they received my application simply b/c that was the day they started working on my case.

05/25/2007 Biometrics appointment Day 24

07/26/2007 Interview Day 86 Approved

08/06/2007 Green card received Day 97

Removal of Conditions

04/28/2009 I-751 delivered to CSC Day 1

06/27/2009 Biometrics appointment (walk-in) Day 60

07/20/2009 Approval notice issued Day 83

07/22/2009 Received card production email Day 85

07/27/2009 Received green card & approval notice Day 90

Beibehaltungsgenehmigung (BBG)

08/03/2009 Submitted application to German consulate in L.A.

Counting from NOA wouldn't be fair. People are already in process- some got NOAs right away, but some after few weeks, and as I read here, some sent, but USPS screwed it up. Process starts once USCIS receive your package.

07/29/2006 – I-129 sent to Vermont

08/04/2006 - NOA1

08/28/2006 - NOA2 - approved

09/01/2006 - NVC - approved

09/07/2006 - Warsaw embassy sent packet 3 (damn post services, never received any)

09/18/2006 - packet 3 sent (Nothing fails)

09/27 - received packet 4

10/10 - medical exam

10/19 - INTERVIEW!

10/20 - received visa

11/7 - arrived in USA, POE YFK

1/19 - Married

02/23/2007 - Civil Surgeon (checked just vaccines for $ 25)

05/04/2007 - AOS package sent to Chicago

05/11/2007 - NOA1

05/15/2007 - NOA2 - ASC appointment letter about biometrics

05/24/2007 - RFE about tax forms w-2 and 1099!!!

06/05/2007 - Biometrics

21/06/2007 - NOA3 - Transfered to California

10/07/2007 - AOS approved, card production ordered!!!

19/07/2007 - Half year marriage anniversary - GC arrives!!!

07/08/2009 - Package sent (My cover letter 40 peaces of evidence)

07/14/2009 - check was cashed

07/10/2009 - NOA 1 received, GK extended for a year

07/17/2009 - received biometrics letter with my case number

08/06/2009 - scheduled biometrics appointment

11/16/2009 - approval

12/01/2009 - touched - card production ordered

2/26/2010 - got ten year card

No more departures!!!

As you can tell by our timeline, I started counting from the day USCIS received our case, the date on our NOA1. To me that's the most accurate way of knowing since that date shows when they received it.

I counted Day 1 as the day I sent the paperwork out /shrug. I guess everyone is different.

K3 Timeline

Oct. 12 2005 Applied for K3 (Day 1)

Jan. 9th 2006 Received packet 3 (Day 89)

Jan. 19th 2006 Sent back packet 3 (Day 99)

March 20th 2006 Received packet 4 (Day 159)

April 20th 2006 K3 Appointment in Montreal (Day 190)

April 21st 2006 Received K3 (Day 191)

April 22nd 2006 Arrived in Florida!!!!! (Day 192)

EAD Timeline

May 3rd 2006 Chicago receives my application (Day 1)

May 8th 2006 NOA received (Day 5)

08/09/10 - Interview Appointment letter received for 09/13/10

2007-Jan : Married to US citizen

2007-Mar : Medical exam with CS

2007-Mar : Filed I 485, I 130, I 765

2007-Mar, 20: Recieved NOA for all the three applications

2007-Mar : Biometrics for 485, 765 notice recieved

2007-Apr : Biometrics for 485 and 765 given

2007-May : Recieved Interview letter for AOS, 485

2007-Jun 02 : EAD recieved by postal mail

2007-Jun 04: Applied for SSN card

2007-Jun 23: Recieved SSN card.

2007-Jul : AOS interview at Memphis

2007-Jul 24 AOS APPROVED and recieved following emails and touches..

Card Production ordered email

Approval notice sent email

Welcome notice sent email..

... yeah all good things on same day!!

2007 Jul 30 email received "Approval Notice for I 485 sent"

2007 Aug 03 PERMANENT RESIDENT CARD RECEIVED by mail

2009 April 24 Next Form to be files I 751.. Till then No USCIS!!
