Our case was approved on 4 June 2019 and based on USCIS tracking site sent to NVC on 21 June 2019. When is reasonable to call NVC for the first time to verify that they got our case (and/or got our case number)?

Thank you.

It took 17 days to get my case number I called Day 10, 14 and the third time I called they gave me the case number

From case approval date

Ah, that was quick. That is not going to happen as they sent it to the NVC 17 days after approval. Called NVC today and they don't have the case yet (not really surprised).

Thank you anyway for clarification.

Good luck! Yeah I received NOA2 approval by phone and they said it was approved on March 12th( I called the 13th I believe). I waited 10 days as others have said and started calling. I called 3 times I think. I was expecting for them to give the usual spill about it taking  6 weeks etc but they were like we have your case number do you want it? Absolutely!😂 That was on March 29th

My wife is visiting me in the UK since end of May so we know that it was approved and sent to NVC only from email notifications and egov.uscis.gov site. Approved June 4th, sent June 21st, NVC is saying on their website that they are right now processing cases received from NVC on June 5th. I think we will try to call in a week again and then we will consider to increase "the pressure" 🙂

We feel that we are lucky as we beat the estimation (we thought that we will be approved in November or December) so we should be patient, but it's soooo difficult! As we are closer, we want to have everything done!

My I-130 was approved on May 31, 2019 and all of my documents left USCIS on June 12, 2019. NVC received my packet on June 19, 2019 -- but I am still pending being entered into the system for a case number.

I've been told by others that it took up to 3 weeks for the NVC to receive their case, and 3+ weeks for NVC to assign them a case number.

Thank you, very helpful! How did you get know that NVC received your case?

I called them yesterday, and waited on hold! Once you get through, there is an option to check if they have your mail and another option for invoice number. I just selected for the mail option and then waited on hold for about an hour to speak to a rep.

The line doesn't go through most of the time and it gives you an automated message. When you call, wait for a dial tone. If you don't hear one, hang up (it'll go straight to the automated message). If it starts ringing/dial tone, then there will still be an automated message, but it's a different one with menu options. Stay on the line and select the option -- then be patient and wait! Once you have an NVC rep speaking with you, you can use your USCIS receipt number from your NOA1/NOA2 and they can check if they have received your case that way.

If your case doesn't seem to get to the NVC in their normal wait time, VJ member tokinaija suggests: "Call USCIS [instead of the NVC], and specifically request to be connected to a Tier 2 supervisor (bypassing the contract customer reps). When connected to a Tier 2 representative, request that you want confirmation that your approved case has been physically shipped to NVC. In amenable words, request for the specific date that the package was shipped. If you are lucky, you will get someone who would take the time to confirm this for you."

You can also see if your information has been physically sent to the NVC by entering your USCIS receipt number from NOA1/NOA2 into the USCIS status tracker (of course, this will only tell you when it left USCIS, not whether it reached NVC).
