Baltimore MD 2019 N-400 Filers

I sympathize with the frustration of seeing applicants from Ohio and Indiana get interview dates when your own is nowhere in sight.  I just kept reminding myself that that could have been me - but then I'd have had to live in Ohio...  😄

Elf - When you passed your interview, did the officer tell you that you had passed on the spot? Did you get a text/email notification? How long before your online portal was updated? Sorry to be asking so many questions...

Forgot to update our status in this thread...Hubby had his interview this past Monday and passed!!!!  He was only back there about 15 minutes.  He passed with just 6 questions.  He was given a paper that was checked off that he passed and was asked to sit in waiting room til called about oath ceremony.  We waited about 3 minutes and then he was called to the window and they gave him his appointment for tomorrow for the oath.  We are over the moon excited!!!  I even scheduled his passport appointment for Monday lol.  Best wishes to all whom are still patiently waiting.  Your day will come before you know it.

Time to completion dropped down to November time period but we will see!

For those who have gone to the Baltimore Oath ceremony, what was your experience like? Any points/Pointers? How long was the oath process?

When do they hand out Naturalization Certificates? And at exactly what time do you become a Citizen? Oh and do you absolutely have to take your green card with you?

The oath process was very simple.  You will absolutely have to turn in your green card as you will no longer be a permanent resident.  You will be a US citizen once you take the oath.  They will call you by name to come up to accept your certificate.  I think we were there about an hour to an hour and a half.  Hope this helps!

Filed online around January 10  / 2019

Received notice online around Aug 20 for interview  Sept 23.

This is sooner than I expected because generally completion  time was and is listed as January 2020.

Got a status update today. 🥳 Here's a summary of my timeline.

03/16/2019: Applied for N400 (Filed based on 5 year rule - 90 day early filer)

O3/27/2019: Biometrics done

09/24/2019: Interview Scheduled.

 

my.uscis.gov is not yet updated and still shows estimated wait time and estimated completion time of 6 months (March 2020)

Congratulations, this is great (and hopeful)! Did you get a notification by email, even though it's not showing on my.uscis.gov?
