You should fire your lawyer.....

 

Affidavits are not a red flag, they act as supporting documents to your petition; I included 2 with mine, did not get an RFE, did not get an interview and got approved in under 12mths for my i751. :) 

Also, you can only really send what you have and if you think that the amount of evidence is sufficient, then send it off.....good luck :thumbs:

Our lawyer felt that we had enough evidence and therefore said we didn't need to bother with affidavit letters. I don't think they are a red flag if provided in conjunction with other evidence. If they are the meat of your evidence then it might raise concerns. Include a couple if you want but if you feel your other evidence is strong go with that.

In my opinion, affidavits are not needed unless you don't have quality evidence.  I think the attorney meant that they are extremely weak pieces of evidence as compared to other documents. There is no reason to fire an attorney for that, imo.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I sent 3 affidavits as support documents.

My understanding is that it won't hurt to send affidavits, but it's also Ok not to send any.

ROC Timeline

01/02/2019: I-751 delivered to USCIS (Texas)

01/08/2019: check cashed & online status show "case received"

03/02/2019: 18-month extension letter received (LIN)

08/02/2019: biometrics letter received

08/23/2019: biometrics appointment

11/04/2019: approval letter received

11/05/2019: online status changed to "card in production"

11/07/2019: card received ✌️😊

I sent an affidavit as I didnt have other supporting docs (mortgage/bills under parents name), no kids, both students; also submitted travel docs for a few trips.  But still got an RFE, fortunately we were blessed with our firstborn and upon submission of those docs (birth cert, ss #, pics, etc) was approved.

 

In summary, doesnt hurt to send in, but it may not be the weightiest piece of info they consider.
