Is there a deadline for scheduling my CR1 interview?

Hi everyone!

Me and my husband filed our I-130 petition in May in Rome (Consulate); yesterday I received an email from the consulate in Naples containing my case number and instructions to follow for the next step. I now  have to collect documents to book ad attend my interview. Is there a deadline for me to collect everything? Will it be possible for me to book the interview around the end of August or is it too late?

Also, did you have to take all your bona fide support documents to the interview (pictures, affidavits, email, etc)?

Thank you in advance for any possible help.

Since you are DCF, you need to take everything that you would have submitted to the NVC with you to the interview.   The instructions are probably not very clear.  This would be the police certificate, your I-864 and tax transcripts, joint sponsor I-864 and tax transcripts - as needed, and proof of the petitioners domicile or intent to establish domicile in the US.  Bring the petitioners passport if possible.

Take a copy of the USCIS petition with you too plus any new items you can.  We took a few pictures of us together in Mexico, our Mexican driver's licenses and Mexican green cards.

Get the appointment scheduled as soon as you can.   At our consulate appointments were far our.

Me and my wife are currently going through the same thing. Can I ask , what date did Rome email you the receipt acknowledgement as well as the approval?? I am still waiting, and am feeling very anxious. We submitted ours 24may and was officially notified of the receipt acknowledgment on the 5th of June

Hi!

So... we had to do a bit of a chasing to receive some sort of NOA1. We sent our package on May 12th and the carrier tracking said it was delivered and signed on May 15th. I waited a few days and then decided to call the consulate (they are available for phonecall enquiries every morning, Monday to Friday). The lady on the phone said the package was indeed received and filed in their system, but she did not really explain why my husband did not get a notification e-mail despite filling out the form requesting to do so. We waited other 10 days and I called again. This time they said they could not speak to me (the beneficiary); I explained my husband is currently deployed and he was unable to call. After that, they finally send an email to my husband confirming they had received the package and mentioning the processing times (60 to 90 days). You actually received an e-mail, so, unless they need further documents from you or you have some reason to expedite the process, they might get back to you max within another month and a half, or so. They  are pretty quick and also extremely available on the phone. My husband called them a few time before submitting the petition to make sure we were doing it right, and they did help us.

My husband, via e-mail, asked to expedite the process explaining we are going to PCS in January 2020 and I believe his requested was taken into consideration. In fact, I received an e-mail on Friday -this time from Naples- saying that Rome accepted my petition and giving me instructions on how to proceed. Now, since the visa only lasts 6 months and the first part of the process was so fast, I am trying to figure out when it's best to book the interview. However, I don't understand if there is a deadline for me to book it or If can schedule it later on so I can 'slow' down the process a bit.  If I schedule it next month, and the interview goes well, my visa will expire before we have to move to the states. My husband is in the military so we need to move when they tell us so.

To sum up:

i-130  sent on May 12th

consulate received it on May 15th

Noa1 on May 24th

Confirmation from Naples on June 21st.

--- I have not received any physical letter yet---

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

From what I gathered, I need to fill out DS 260 online first. After that, I need to collect my I-184 (filled out by my husband), police certficates and vaccination book, etc.  These documents need to be brought physically to the interviews. My question strictly regards the booking system for the interviews. Since the first part of the visa process was so fast (my petition was approved way sooner than I expected), I am trying to 'slow down' the process slightly. Me and my husband are changing station in January 2020 and, since the visa, once issued, is valid for 6 months, I need to have my medical appointment and interview at least in August. Will it be ok if I book it for then or September? Or is it too late?

Thank you for any possible help.
