What steps could you take to expedite the bio appointment? Father needs to leave on July 30 . The date was put on the application since ticket was already brought. The usbcis online status states:On May 28, 2019, we accepted the fingerprint fee for your Form I-131, Application for Travel Document. How likely he will do his bio before 7/30?

It's very possible that the bio appointment will be before 7/30, but highly unlikely that his travel document will be approved by that date. My bio appointment was almost exactly one month after filing. Once you receive the bio appointment letter, you can try to do an early walk-in. Some people have been able to do that. I don't think USCIS really cares about people's travel plans, hence why others advise not to make travel plans until after approval.

Father is the immigrant attending the biometrics appointment?

Father has booked a flight to leave the US and your worried about him simply missing the biometrics appointment and are not concerned he is leaving the US without Advanced Parole and will not be able to return to the US?

I'm super confused.

Assuming it's the same father as his previous posts (not posting for a friend...), the father is an LPR as they entered on an IR-5 visa. No AP needed.

There is another possibility. The form I-131 is also used to apply for re-entry permit. However, in that case, I don't think the father can leave until the I-131 is approved. Unless, this trip that he's planning on 7/30 is not "the longer than 1 year trip" for which he's applying the I-131. And in such case, I am also not sure, if he can do that? Meaning, if he can leave the US while the I-131 is pending for which is intended for a different trip.

I believe a re-entry permit is the purpose of the I-131 here. But not AP. :)

You only need to be in the US at the time of filing the I-131 for a re-entry permit. You must also do the biometrics in the US. You can actually have the re-entry document delivered abroad at the consulate there.

Well now that's for an immigrant to worry about and an IO to interrogate about down the road, right! 😉

hello all, yes i am the same one whose parent struggle with coming or not. I don't know what the future holds but he needs to make up his mind. He may end up just returning it and try a regular visa (he was denied that like 3 times hence applying for a green card).

On this topic, he just got his bio appointment  to be done in the next 2 weeks.

Thanks all for your replies
