K-1 as a business owner / self-employed

We are going to be applying for the K-1 visa and am can't find information about being self-employed. I Canadian and own a home-based business (no employees) so I am basically a freelancer that provides web design services etc. Will I have to put my business on hold once I receive my k-1 visa? Or can I apply for some sort of working visa or status?

Slippery slope.  Technically you cannot perform any work for pay.

 

After marriage you apply for adjustment of status (including interim employment authorization) but the interim benefits are taking about 7 to 8 months to approve.

I would go for the CR1 route if I were you. Visiting should be fairly easy during the process.

CR1 is Just easier for your situation.  Once visa is approved you enter US and all paperwork is sent off for ss number. Two weeks later you receive your ssn and start legally working.
