ESTA approval odds

My father will be applying for ESTA with his brand new German passport soon (previous one expired some time ago and he wasn't in need of a new one for a while). He has never flown to the US.

When I went and applied for my SSN they asked me my parent's name which I gave them.

Will my father have any issues getting approved for ESTA? Since he now has a US citizen daughter and the SSA has his name. Or is the question about my parents more of a "security feature" like "what's your mothers maiden name" on credit card applications? I don't know how extensive the background check for ESTA is and if it causes problems or not.

I don't want his ESTA denied because they might assume immigrant intend which he doesn't have by the way. If he decides he wants to move here, I would file a proper I-130 for him.

SSN has nothing to do with immigration.

And Immigrant Intent would be assessed at the POE.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

ESTA is super easy to get. Does not guarantee admission to the US though.

He'll most likely tell POE that he's visiting his US citizen daughter and there is no way of knowing how this will go down. Have to wait and see. Thanks for the replies!

CBP is not against family hanging out together.

My parents just recently applied for estas with their new passports  (they never had one before). Both got accepted within 24 hours!

My aos is still pending but i have my ssn, which means they know who my parents are!

Yes and I'm wondering if this is just a security layer for you or do they actually use this info in some way.

I mean of course they save that somewhere, but your parents visiting is not a problem at all. As I said they approved my parents within 24 hours.

There are plenty of people visiting their families and especially since they are german, theres nothing to worry about.

My parents will be visiting next year and I am only gonna tell them to bring a note from my dads work (when to be expected back) and maybe some more, but they most likely wont need it.

Like Boiler mentioned above, the parent info from the SSA records is not forwarded to immigration. Also, immigration has that info before SSA has it. For example, when your spouse started the process a I-129F petition was sent in. The I-129F has a "Information About Your Beneficiary's Parents" section.

Yeah i just mentioned it to say they most likely have it but it does not matter.

And yeah I know about the i-129f questions, i filled that whole petition out myself, because my hubby was totally overwhelmed by it 😂.

It should not be an issue.

I had to renew my Esta early this year because it expired and it was accepted (with an accepted I130 in the system so they knew I had immigrant intent 😊).

It will be fine!

“It’s been 84 years…”

I forgot about that 😊

Esta also asks for social media handles. Now, he has a Facebook profile without user name. I asked him to create one to make filling out the form easier. But he refuses to do that and thinks he'll be OK. He will let the travel agency handle it he says. I explained to him that he is responsible for his data that they enter and he cannot omit the social media handles if it's asked. Will he have trouble if he in fact does omit social media profiles?

He should not lie and why does he need a travel agency?
