We sent a money order to pay for the AoS forms.  Sadly the bank wouldn't give a money order for more than $1000, so I sent two.  one for $1000 and one for $225.

I hope this doesn't cause us any issues.

How long to get the NOA1?

We sent everything to the Chicago Lockbox almost 3 weeks ago.  We got back the return receipt about 3 days ago.

I thought we'd have NOA1 by now.

https://www.alllaw.com/articles/nolo/us-immigration/make-sure-application-doesnt-get-lost-process.html "In the United States, one good option is to go to the post office and use certified mail with a return receipt for all your applications or correspondence with USCIS or the consulates. When you request a return receipt, you will prepare a little postcard that is attached to your envelope and will be signed by the person at USCIS or the consulate who physically receives your envelope. The postcard will be mailed to you, and will be your proof that the envelope was received. You can use this postcard to convince USCIS or the consulate to look for the application if it gets misplaced."

Thats what I thought it was but I am confused as that wont work for the USPS address though as there are no humans there to sign for anything. I presumed the OP sent via USPS as they said Lockbox so I thought that may have had something to do with the delay (wrong method of shipment to wrong address).

It was instructed to ship to the lock box.  I did get the receipt back from the post office.

So someone there has it.   Hopefully will see NOA1 soon.

Still nothing after nearly 18 days.

How do I even follow up with this?

I don't want my wife to be "out of status".

At what point do I panic?

No need to panic. Even if you get the NOA1 next month, it will show the receipt date of whenever it was delivered to them. Your wife wont go out of status by NOA1 delay. Just tell your wife not to go out kicking cop’s butt till she gets NOA1.

I submitted  a request for information today.

I got an auto-reply that said they would reply to my email within 30 days.  😞
