We applied but got SSave Mismatch (Arrived on K1)

Hi VJ,
My man arrived on the 12th with a K1 Visa and Today we went ahead and apply at the SSA Office [Knoxville, TN] which took me about 32 mins to drive to one, can't be bad. Waited for an hour, it was pretty heavy traffic there.

Once we got to the window and the lady put in the window, she kept saying there is a SSave mismatch. I did ask her about doing it manually and asked her to ask for help but she refused. However, she said she'll try again after a few days and I told her to call me and tell me the status on that.
I also ask on what else I could do but she told me to call Homeland of Dept. Security. She claim she do this everyday and she know what she is doing. (I don't know how often does it happen for here but it seem questionable.)

 

Anything else I should do? We haven't got married yet. Let me know.

Edit: The American Airline did screw up the name on the boarding pass, maybe this has something to do with the mismatch? He have a space in his last name.

Boarding pass from airline has nothing to do with SSA or SAVE system.

Check his I-94. If wrong, go to deferred inspection cbp to fix it. Then apply for ssn again.

We did and we didn't find anything wrong. What are the specific we should find?

Looks like I'll have to go through that, what should I do when the teller would NOT do this (Create a save case?) Just want to eliminate long drive as possible, there are 2 nearby. One is 40 mins and the other 1 hour away. We already went to the one that's 40 mins away and probably likely to have some work with the internationals but the person I went to doesn't have that much knowledge.

Ask to speak to someone else / higher-up.

I had to go back 3 times until I spoke with someone who knew what he was doing and opened the case. But knowing what I know now, I would ask to speak to someone else until I get someone who opens a case.

Well the first time I did, she will not speak to someone higher up nor let me speak to someone higher up. She just forcibly shut the window on me.

 

So I'll be making a phone call and preparing my visit to the other trip 1 hr away.

That's a very unpleasant interaction indeed.

There are probably ways to file a complaint about that, but the fastest route to getting a SSN is probably to just go back and hope someone else is helping you, or go to a different office.

Will try doing 2 different schedule. 1 at the office in Athens, TN and one back in Knoxville, TN and see how that goes. If the first one succeed, then I'll cancel the second one.

We're having similiar problems getting my wife's SSN as well.  They did the SAVE case check, it was sent back to SSA, but we never received anything in the mail.  Went back 2 weeks ago, the worker was baffled as to what was going on as EVERYTHING matched correctly.  He couldn't tell me whether she was approved or denied.  They were suppose to make some calls, and  We were suppose to receive a call back, but nothing.  I suspect we'll be going there a third time this Friday to see what the heck is going on.

Dang, which office did you went to? I was supposed to get a call back but I got no phone call and they never did ask for my number, so maybe it's outdated on the file there?

Yeah, the Knoxville's worse time period of traffic flow is between 2p-5p EST. Same in Alcoa (Blount Co.) especially the construction zone is at. Not sure about anywhere else at the moment but these 2 are the one that I think had been worse.

I live in the Tri-cities  so my closest office is just right over the border in Virginia.  The guy took my cell phone number and stated he'd call me back with information.  Course, I got nadda.

 

Rarely do I go to Knoxville, but every time I do, I heavily regret it

Sounds good!  We went back on Friday to the office where we applied, and was rudefully told "It is a supervisor issue that has to be pushed, this is why you haven't heard anything in 2 weeks.  The supervisor isn't available.  Let me take your number (AGAIN) and we'll call you back.  It might be a few days."

 

I'm fearful they'll pull a denial due to her I-94 now being expired.
