Sending 221g docs directly to the embassy/collection center

Hi everyone,

I had my interview done and I was given a white slip stating I needed to submit a joint sponsor before visa will be issued... our joint sponsor has already filled and signed the affidavit of support but she wants to know if she can mail it directly to the embassy or the document collection center cos she doesn't want her socials falling into the wrong hands.

Whom does she fear will get that information?  A copy of your 221 g needs to accompany her documents.

Yes we know that... She's scared about her social security number getting out to the wrong person

Baseless fear.  How is mailing it to you different from mailing it to the US embassy?

^^^ There's your answer.

Also, contact the embassy for right addressee. She can mail it with registered mail that carries tracking of the packet, who signed for receiving, etc.

when it comes to co sponsoring, the LEAST Thing to be concerned about is someone in the government getting their hands on information they already have access to.

 

If she doesnt trust YOU to have it and get it to the appropriate party, why on earth is she cosponsoring to begin with?

Of course not. Instructions state to include letter for 221g with the packet.

But, I now see why it was suggested giving it to the OP rather than sending it direct from sponsor.
