Hi there.

Me and my husband just got married just under a month now and I am wondering how am I able to inform the USCIS that the marriage has gone through? Do I have to do anything with regards to any paperwork? It says on my visa that the k-1 visa expires on June 26 and I just dont want to get in trouble after that since we got married anyway. Thanks for the replies!

When you submit your AOS application, that will inform USCIS that you got married, because you'll have to send your marriage certificate with it.

As long as you married within 90 days upon arrival in the states, you will be fine. Just start getting ready to file your Aos.

Do I have to submit the AOS application before my visa expires or is it between the 90 days within I got in the United States? Visa expiry is on June 26 but I just got in the US on May 13 and my 90th day is around Aug 10.

Your visa has already expired, since it's single-use and you used it.

From now on, your legal presence is determined by your I-94.

You will be out of status and deportable from the day your I-94 expires to the day that USCIS accepts your I-485 for processing.

You should file for AoS as soon as possible.

Congrats on your marriage!

Visa expired upon entry into the USA.   I-94 governs your legal status for 90 days from entry.

You need to file for Adjustment of Status (AOS).    Once filed and accepted by USCIS the I-797 gives you legal status until your green card is issues  (or EAD card I-765)
