Hello all! I have a confusion on when to file my citizenship, if anyone can help me please! Is it 4 years since the resident on my greencard or 5 years after the resident time. And does it depend on what category is your greencard, someone please explain thank you 🙏🏼

If by marriage to a USC 3 years.   If by other means 5 years.  Each measured from the date of residency.   The application window opens 90 days before the 3 or 5 year date.

But by the day you apply, you must meet the other eligibility criteria. Like married and living in a marital union for at least 3 years, physical presence for a certain number of days...

What type of visa do you have?

If you are married to a US citizen for 3 yrs, you can apply under the 3-year rule. If not, you have to apply under the 5-year rule and ensure you meet ALL the criteria for applying for naturalization.

Except for continuous residence period, which can be 90 days short on application date.
