Hi Everyone ,,

my wife and I got married on her first visit to Ghana. We dated for 2yrs before we saw each other in person and we got married.. - we sent our form I- 130 In November and we still waiting for our first approval. She added me to her life insurance policy. Change her last name to my name . Driving license and social security names all change to my surname.. etc .....- she goes scared when she is in the plane ....She is scared of height and it’s making her not to visit again.. The fear and panic she went through the first the day she landed in Ghana.. she is not good with flight.. - but we talk everyday on phone and we misses each other.. will this affect our visa process. - she is scared to be in the plane??

thank you!

Agreed. Difficult embassy already to deal with. Then marriage on first meeting? And no other trips since supposedly? Fear of flying is not a reason to not see eachother honestly. I know the trip is pretty long as I worked in Angola and flew back and forth a lot, but face time is crucial when dealing with the embassy there......

Probably shouldn't ask, but is there any other "issue" such as large age difference??

Fear of heights or flying does not impact a visa decision at all.

The amount of time spent physically together is an important component of showing a bona fide marriage. People have had success with only a single visit from very difficult embassies, but that would generally fall on the less likely side of things.

But the CO will look at the case in its totality - time spent together is just one (albeit important) component.

She can take lorazepam (spelling?) for a flight.  That stuff works for me and I am (irrationally) deathly afraid of flying.  I usually triple the recommended dose from my doctor, which I don’t recommend but for me, I’m not getting on that plane if I don’t.

The other suggestion to meet somewhere she can access without needing to fly, if possible.

I think with Ghana, you need to really demonstrate the veracity of the relationship with lots of time together.  Tough embassy to begin with, before you factor in other things like lack of time together.

Best of luck!

you should really do the timeline on your profile

you should also read the Ghana portal as best advice is there in past posts

and I will ask,  big age difference?

how much time did she spend in Ghana?

and how did she make it thru the first flight / do that again and again to get approved

and when were you together last?

look at my site to see what we had to do

took us 6 years and 5 visits

K1 in 2009 doesn't show there

to these high fraud embassies , you must prove so much

the CO's are quite serious and investigative

and they don't care if a person is afraid of flying or is "stage struck" by an intimidating CO in interview

the petitioner and beneficary must "go the distance "  to validate a real relationship

remember

good things come to those who believe

better things come to those who are patient

and the best things come to those who "don't give up"

Therapy and medications might help.  Otherwise, you can try to meet in another country where she can drive, or reachable by land or sea.

How long did she visit you the only time you met?

She stays for 15days the first time

Be prepared a long, difficult road ahead to obtain a CR-1 visa.  Unfortunately, she will have to find a way to overcome her fear to either make multiple visits, or she will have to make one flight to re-locate to your country to live for a few years......have you discussed her moving to your country?

Even if this is the only way you could be together? My boyfriend (fiance-to-be) and I have discussed what would happen if he has to move back to the UK. I have lived there before and was totally miserable. It was not a place I thought I could live long term (which is why my ex-husband came to the US from there to be with me -- even though we could have had a higher quality of life over there), but I would gladly make the move tomorrow for my boyfriend. I know the UK is not the same as moving to Ghana, but I would seriously question whether I wanted to marry someone who wasn't willing to make sacrifices. Jobs come and go, but the person you love and who loves you back should want to be wherever you are.
