Affidavit of Support Clarification

So I've filled out my I-134 and I'm gathering all the required supplementary documentation as per the "Checklist of Required Initial Evidence". I have my taxes and letter from my employer but my bank (Academy Bank) seemed to be unable or unwilling to provide me with the following:

  • A signed statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institution that states when you opened an account, the total amount deposited for the past year, and the present balance of such account

They insist the request has to come from the government, though based on my conversations with them, they don't seem to understand what I'm asking for. Can someone help to clarify what the government wants so I can better explain it to them? As I understand it, they want a written letter, probably less than a paragraph, that says like "Derek opened his account on X date. His total deposits for the last year have been X and his current balance is X." I've read other people simply supplied bank statements but that's not really what they're asking for, according to the official website.

Forget about bank stuff if your income exceeds the threshold

YMMV

Wait really? Why doesn't it say that on the USCIS website?

What is on the website is examples of evidence. Tbe Department of State is not the USCIS and does there own thing.   In real life, embassies don't look too far past income if you are over the top

Oh wow, don't I feel silly? They make it look practically mandatory when they say:

"Did you submit the following?"

Your best information will come from Sydney.   Most likely they will describe exactly what they are interested in

YMMV

The less than a paragraph above is essentially what my bank wrote for me on bank letterhead.

What’s their problem with that?
