My GF and I plan on doing the K1 visa so I can bring her to the US. We are both religious and will be filing the I-601 vaccine waiver.

My 1st question is:

Can she still come to the US with me so we can get married (within 3 months) while we do the I-601 vaccine waiver? Or does the waiver have to be approved, BEFORE I can marry her in the US

My second question is:

Are engagement pictures 100% required? We do plan on taking lots of pics, but is the engagements pics necessary as well?

thanks

Is this just a repeat of the other anti-vaccination threads from recent, or is this a new thing coming to VJ?....... :pop:

Can't answer first question.

Second question, no. Sometimes engagement party photos have caused denials because it actually appears more as a wedding, or local customs treat it as such. You end up being "too married" for a K-1 essentially. So I'd avoid those.

read and take your advice from  immigration

says you can file a waiver for religious beliefs but the beliefs must be sincere

it also says which wavier as different waivers are filed for different visa types

you only need photos of meeting / forget the engagement photos

Vaccinations are not absolutely  required for a K-1 visa per my understanding.  However, they are required for adjustment of status unless waived........and there is no guarantee that a waiver will be approved....what are your plans if that happens?

We brought photos from our Dam Hoi to the interview,  but didn't include them in our front loaded application.  We mentioned the Dam Hoi in our timeline, but the consulate didn't ask to see any additional photos at the interview.

As others noted, you don't have to have all vaccinations for the k1, but given the current problem with the resurgence of measles in the US, religious exemptions may be even more difficult when your fiance adjusts status.  New York is no longer accepting religious exemptions due to the measles outbreak, so I would suspect the immigration process might become stricter as well.

My step son did not complete all vaccinations before coming to the US in December using a K2 visa.   His public school in Maryland required a schedule from his doctor to complete them by end of this school year, though.  We will bring current vaccinations records to the AOS interview.

We did not have an engagement party nor any formal engagement photos.  CO asked my fiancee during the interview why we didn't have an engagement party.  Fiance said because we were saving to buy a house.  Visa was approved.
