I don't think anyone can have just a civil marriage in Indonesia. Are you trying to avoid a religious ceremony there?

I do know getting married in Indonesia requires a lot more paperwork than here in the US (at least for non-Muslims). That's one reason my wife and I got legally married in the US.

I believe she said they want a religious ceremony there (Indo) but somehow believe they also need a civil marriage in the US.

A religious marriage in Indonesia between a citizen and non-citizen is a legal marriage.

Why do you think you must have a civil ceremony?

Yes, I only think to do religious ceremony without civil marriage there, I prefer to do in Us. But, I don’t know whether it can or not to do legal marriage in Us for green cars holder(his).

Yes that’s what i want to say, because due here is most of family, so i prefer for religious ceremony there but other legal or civil marriage there(US)

Ok, so you want to have religious ceremony in Indonesia? And legal marriage in the USA? Why? What would be the benefit of coming to the US to have a civil wedding and marriage here?

But to answer your other question: yes, you can get legally married here in the US to anyone (citizen, green card holder, fellow visitor, etc).
