I was able to get my I-134 form notarized but according to direction #4 on the "What to send to your fiancee once the I-129F is approved" http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...mp;page=k1guide , I need to also have the "required supporting evidence."

Can I just send a copy of my tax forms for this "required supporting evidence"?

or are they referring to the material described in direction #5?

You must have the supporting evidence just in case your beloved is asked at the interview. In my case they gave me back all those documents except the tax forms.

TomTom,

Most consulates ask for either 1 or 3 years of tax returns. One can provide either complete copies of the tax returns, as filed with the IRS, or the IRS-prepared tax transcripts.

Yodrak

Are tax transcripts really needed? It doesn't appear in the guide.

What the hell is all this? Where do you people get this information? I was under the impression that the affidavit of support I bring is the one the petitioner gave me back after she filed. Now I have to get an updated one by tomorrow? What the hell!?

Photo copies of past 6 months pay stubs up to a few weeks before the interview??? Uh...sorry...but I was not told that in my "packet 3". What the hell!?

Update. When you inform the consulate that you have everything you need, you are telling them you have the affidavit of support completed as well. Then it takes a few months before you get your interview. When you go to your interview you bring the completed affidavit of support that you got when you said that you had everything.

There is no need to 'update' it to just a few weeks before the interview. My "packet 3" never told me whatsoever to "update" it.

hoosier dady,

One must provide material documenting the information that is provided on the I-134.

One must generally also provide additional evidence of financial condition in addition to the I-134 and its' supporting documentation - a common example being 1 or 3 years (depending on the consulate) of past tax returns, something that is not required by the I-134 (unless perhaps one is self-employed).

JoeCanuk,

The consular officer will decide how current the financial information needs to be. One officer may be comfortable with information that is a few months old, another may want to see information that is more current. You won't know for sure until the officer looks at the information you present and forms an opinion.

Ok. So how come I wasn't informed of this in my packet? I'll have to go with what I have now. My sponsor is in the US Air Force. The officer will have to be satisfied with that. I wasn't informed otherwise. Nothing in my packet said to bring an updated version.

The information I have from my sponsor is up to the end of December 2006. I then notified the Consulate in January when I had everything that I 'supposedly' (according to my packet) needed. Then it took until May to get my interview date. I was still not notified that I needed to bring an updated version. Therefore I cannot and the officer will have to be satisfied.

JoeCanuk,

When the consular officer reviews the material that you submit they will tell you either that it is adequate or that they would like to see something more current.

From what you write here it seems that the fiancial documetation that you have to present is 6 months old? I cannot predict what the officer might say - I would not be surprised either way.

For the life of me, I cannot figure out why. I'm bringing with me what the packet requested. It said nothing about an updated version. I am not going to go back to Montreal for another interview so they will have to accept it. Yes, the financial info is 6 months old. The guy is in the air force on a salary. It's not my fault the consulate takes a third of a year to get back to you for your interview after you tell them you have everything.
