My father had to get additional travel authority for the baby. Maybe it was a passport and not a visa. Ill confirm tonight when I see him. Thanks for the insight

It would have been a passport as you can't get a US Visa for a US Citizen

Philippines is not at the same level as Lagos

Ok. I was only giving an example of when America might not accept a marriage.

If the child has a claim to us citizenship,  they are ineligible for a Visa

Be careful recommending co sponsor in Manila,  it is not a guarantee to be accepted

No nothing is guaranteed. But if he doesn't want to wait he can get a co sponsor.

Manila has there own process and acceptance of co sponsors is limited and on a case by case basis

YMMV

Consider marrying in the Philippines. The process will be a bit longer than a K1, but (my opinion) it will be a bit easier.

Not only process time but the time it will be before he can get back for another visit

YMMV

Indeed, many Philippines members here. I'd put up the country's tourism slogan but I got warned along time ago as someone found it offensive lol

Just checked, there are 25,501 profiles here on VJ that are Filipino on one side or the other!  Largest group by far!

Manila does not usually accept co-sponsors.

Under the Good Friday Agreement of 1998, a citizen from the north of Ireland can be classed and class themselves as British or Irish, or both.

If you start working now then you will have plenty of evidence of income by the time you actually have to submit the income documentation, so I wouldn't delay starting the visa process. You can always delay it partway through if necessary, also.
Someone will probably come along and post the K-1 (fiance) / CR-1 (spousal) visa comparison. CR-1 is better in several ways (especially as it allows the spouse to work and travel abroad straight away), however K-1 is faster and that might be a big factor if you don't want to be separated from the baby (and gf!) for too long.
