Have a little question. My wife parents just got approved for b2 Visa. Is it possible to buy tickets here from the internet and how can theytuse the tickets with no problems coming out Manila to San Francisco . It is lot cheaper doing that but want them to have no problems. They have never travelled out the Philippines and do not have a smart phone so if anyone has information I would appreciate it. I googled it but couldn't find any info.

TIA

The vast majority of airplane tickets are sold on the internet. They are e-tickets. You go to a website, choose the flight, pay, and they will email a confirmation number. On that date, show up at the airport, go the check-in counter of whatever airline you bought ticket from, check in. They will give you a boarding pass, you go through security, find your gate, and board your plane.

Thank you. I assumed that how it worked.  When my wife came here in 2008 u had to show the cc that was used to buy the ticket so wasnt sure. I know we have flown several times and never had to do that but of course that flight never originated out the Philippines which never does things normal

I remember well back then when some airlines, usually Philippines Airlines or Air Philippines was asking for credit cards verificaiton, I know the USA based carriers were not asking.  I have not heard of them asking for copy of the Credit cards in the last few years, you could always call the airlines and check.

Yup you can purchase them for them, I did online for my husband for him when he came here few years ago. No issues, just list them as the travelers obviously. And like above, some may want to verify the credit card and purchaser so just be aware of that. Emirates had no issue with it and I think a lot don't but some might.

They won't let you inside the airport in Philippines unless you have a ticket to show the guard at the entrance

A few tips from a seasoned traveler. When buying tickets sometimes you can save a few hundred by using a VPN to put yourself in a different country when you purchase the tickets online. I save hundred of dollars every time by " tricking" their computer into thinking I am in a different country than I am. Buying tickets in the US is almost always more expensive, so you may want to vpn yourself into the Philippines when you buy the tickets. Same tickets are sold at different prices depending on what country you are in.

On the second tip, since you are buying the tickets for them, they may need a copy of your credit card ( black out some of the numbers for security) and a copy of your ID, or passport biometric page when they check in to prove they know who bought the tickets. Since it will be a 3rd party sale, quite a few airlines require this, so double check on their website to see if you need to do this. Just scan them into an email, and send them to them to print out. I'll see if I can find a link to the VPN info, and post it here, it explains how it works.

Back in 2006 to 2008 time frame Philippines based air carriers wouldn't even let you buy a ticket out of the country without first showing them a visa if you were a citizen of Philippines.

I've never had a problem with the guards there.  I just tell them I have an e-ticket and they let me through. I also go in the OFW door so there is no waiting!  LOL

I go to the same door as well

If you notice people in the Philippines love to fall in line, so when you pull up the first entrance has a long long line, then as you get further down toward the end where the OFW the lines get shorter.

I also carry a US handicap disabled placard to get me thru lines faster in case I am late to the airports, it works like a charm
