Hello. My wife is from Ghana, I am from the USA, and I want to bring her home to join me. She already had her Spouse Visa Interview nearly 3 months ago and she was told that she needs to obtain a Police Report or Certificate of No Criminal Convictions, from China, before they can issue her the USA Visa. She lived in China 5 years ago, but has been back in Ghana ever since. We are finding no useful information online, on how to obtain this Police Report, and from what I understand you can only get this Police Report if you are in China or if you know someone in China who can get it on your behalf. My wife no longer has any contacts in China. Is there another way around this?!? What can we do? We are stuck on what to do right now, and any useful tips or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you...

Can't give specific advice, but there was a poster just yesterday who's stuck in administrative processing for same reason, no police report from China, main difference is the other poster overstayed in China so most likely could never obtain a police report from them now.

There really is probably no way around it, it's a basic requirement for these visas. As above, have her contact the nearest Chinese embassy and go from there.

Thanks for the tips, but my wife went to the Chinese Embassy and was told that they could not help her... It is almost as if they are trying to make it impossible

What? China being difficult? No way! Of course they are going to be. Hopefully some other members dealing with China specifically can assist you, but she may just have to physically go get it at last resort. This is main issue people have when they choose to work in foreign countries or whatnot, especially when it's the more difficult ones.

She may authorize someone to help obtain one from the police station where she used to live in China. Or she has to go to China to obtain one

the procedure is

1. Obtain a police check from the police station where she used to reside

2. Since the police check is in chinese, so ur wife needs to do a notary at a notary office

hope it helps

That is what I thought... but there has to be some way around this. Just not sure what.

I found out there are some agencies or law offices could help to obtain. (If your wife doesn’t have friends there) no need your wife to go to China.

What agencies are those? We searched all over the internet and there are no clear-cut answers, and on some of the websites where they say they can get this Police Report seem like they could be scams... There has to be something legitimate out there that will not break the bank... I know other people have had to go through this before, so there has to be a way (besides going to China). This is all very irritating!
